Shelley is a Junior Quality Engineer who has been a valued member of the Drake team for over two and a half years. She has stepped up to take on additional responsibility by leading the new IC shaft projects across both plants, ensuring smooth job launches while continuing to manage quality inspections and her daily responsibilities.

🌟 National Apprenticeship Week Spotlight 🌟

Meet Bryan Williams, one of our passionate CNC Set-Up Technician apprentices!

Bryan believes manufacturing chose him. With both of his parents working in the industry, it felt like a natural path - and one he’s proud to be on.

He enjoys working on the Makino mill, running all OPs. Bryan takes pride in how much he’s grown, especially in improving his skills in changing and setting up tools, as well as learning and applying programming.

What Bryan values most about this program is the opportunity to keep building his skill set and learning new information.

Outside of work, Bryan enjoys fishing, playing cards, and watching sports.

We’re lucky to have Bryan on our team!

🌟 National Apprenticeship Week Spotlight 🌟

Meet Jerry Gant, one of our dedicated CNC Set-Up Technician apprentices!

Jerry was inspired to get into manufacturing after the birth of his first child, when his cousin encouraged him to pursue it as a rewarding career path. That advice set him on a journey he’s fully embraced.

He enjoys working with Okuma machines, especially dual-turret models, and takes pride in his ability to read complex CNC programming codes.

What Jerry values most about the program is how hands-on it is. He appreciates the opportunity to spend one-on-one time with his instructor, asking questions and gaining deeper insight into the manufacturing field.

Outside of work, Jerry enjoys playing basketball with his friends and never turns down a competitive game of chess.

We’re proud to have Jerry on our team and can already see great things in his future!

Meet Nathaniel Percy, one of our driven CNC Operator apprentices!

Nathaniel chose manufacturing because he enjoys hands-on work and running machines. He thrives in the shop environment and especially likes working on the lathe.

What he enjoys most about the program is the opportunity to keep learning and gaining experience across different areas of manufacturing. He is proud of the knowledge he has built in blueprint reading this semester.

Outside of work, Nathaniel enjoys spending time with his children and family.

We’re proud to have Nathaniel in our apprenticeship program and look forward to his continued growth!

Meet Bryce Hughes, one of our dedicated CNC Operator apprentices!

Bryce discovered his passion for manufacturing in high school metal shop and has been building on those skills ever since. Today, he’s committed to growing in the trade and learning something new every day.

On the shop floor, Bryce enjoys working with the lathe and broach. He’s recently been focused on improving tool-changing efficiency to keep operations running smoothly. One of the benefits of his program is that he has been able to sharpen his math skills.

Outside of work, Bryce stays busy with home construction projects, basketball, and learning new languages.

We’re proud to have Bryce in our apprenticeship program and look forward to his continued growth!

Meet Deontae Thomas, one of Drake’s dedicated CNC apprentices!

Inspired by his granddad’s 30-year career at Ford, Deontae found his own path into manufacturing and enjoys learning through hands-on experience every day. Right now, he enjoys working on the Carrier Line on a Makino Horizontal Mill and is especially proud of the skills he has developed in precision measurement and quality inspection using gauges.

When he’s not on the shop floor, Deontae enjoys playing video games and basketball.

We’re proud to have Deontae in our apprenticeship program and excited to watch him continue to grow in his manufacturing journey! 👏⚙️
