Well, actually it was Eric to the rescue: A fellow Harley rider's front wheel bearing failed while "passin' thru our neck of the wood". It severely damaged the hub, causing the new bearing fit too loose. A matching new/good used wheel was not readily available, so he asked if we could repair his wheel. A couple more "git'r done" jobs from last week 🙂
- Mitsch finished prepares to diamond hone the cylinders on another 5.9L Cummins block on our Sunnen SV10. Mitsch has the experience to make it look soooo easy.
- Tony preps our 75mph T&S Machines and Tools, Inc. surfacing machine. Tony make this machine sing - quickly surfacing cyl heads level and to proper surface finish Ra/Rv/Rp specs.
- Tony is having too much fun with out T&S Machines and Tools, Inc. surfacer - look at that grin. LOL

A few more jobs moving thru the shop: Clint assembling a GM LT1 long block. And a Ford 2.3L SOHC engine. And balancing another Ford 351 Winsor crankshaft/rotating assembly.
Lastly, we ground a stroker crank for Promax Performance.
A bit of trivia: there are only a few engine shops in DFW area that grind crankshaft - we're one of those few. We've been grinding crankshafts for 63 yrs, since 1963.

Chevy 327 engine: painted and assembled long block.

327 V8 ready for pickup, sitting next to a freshly rebuilt VW Type 4 long block engine. The Type 4 engine shares parts with the later VW Type 2 transporter engines ...both are closely related to the Porsche 914/4 engine.

More Chevy 327 machining:
Setting and checking roller rocker arm geometry on Chevy 327 heads.
(some folks mistakenly think setting rocker arm geometry only involves adjusting push rod lengths (which will "getcha by"... however, we prefer to set roller rockers at mid-lift & square to the valve stem axis to make sure contact is centered on the valve stem. This significantly reduces valve guide wear, and helps improve performance a bit too. May take us a little longer, but it's better to do 100% of the job instead of just enough to "get by".)

Re-machining engines is not always "creme gravy and biscuits"...many times jobs come to us in boxes and baskets, unassembled, greasy, rusted, worn out; often mixed components from two or more motors; sometimes missing a few parts ... so with all our years of experience, we quickly sort thru all the boxes and baskets, count parts, and clean off enough grime to perform a very thorough visual inspection.

UPDATE on our damaged Sign:
It's been more than 2 months since a pickup truck driver lost control, and destroyed our exterior 3-pole sign. His insurance company has yet to pay for damages.
