APG had a strong showing at this year’s IEC Florida West Coast Chapter Wire-Off Competition, with three of our apprentices earning spots among the event’s top competitors: Jason Hollands, Fergus Pullen, and William Wahle.

The competition challenged finalists through written assessments and hands-on electrical skills testing, showcasing the knowledge and craftsmanship developed throughout their apprenticeship journey. Congratulations to William on earning this year’s top honor and preparing to represent the chapter at nationals in Ohio this October. We’re also proud of the APG team members who supported the event behind the scenes and helped make it a success.

April marked a major milestone for APG as two significant projects—the University of South Florida Football Stadium and the Tampa General Hospital Surgical, Neuroscience & Transplant Pavilion—both celebrated topping out milestones on the same day.

At USF, teams reached completion of the South Side Tower structural work and slab-on-metal decks while continuing electrical rough-in efforts and preparing for overhead work. At Tampa General Hospital, crews completed the primary structure of the 13-story pavilion and are now transitioning into interior buildout and ongoing MEP installation.

Reaching these milestones simultaneously reflects the coordination, expertise, and dedication of our teams across multiple disciplines as we continue delivering projects that will have a lasting impact on our community.

June is National Safety Month, a time to recognize the importance of creating safer workplaces, stronger habits, and a culture that looks out for one another. At APG, safety is more than a priority—it’s a core value that guides the way we work every day.

As we recognize National Safety Month, we remain committed to protecting our teams, supporting one another, and ensuring every employee returns home safely at the end of each day. Safety starts with each of us and strengthens the entire APG family.

The first quarter of 2026 brought incredible momentum to our Community Volunteer Program. APG employees logged 1,061 volunteer hours, with family members contributing an additional 376 hours—totaling 1,437 hours for the quarter. This represents a 62 percent increase over the same period last year.

Since launching this program in January 2012, our employees and their families have generously donated 75,876 hours to bettering the communities where we live and work. What matters most is participation and sharing those hours so we can reflect the true scope of our collective impact.

Thank you to every APG team member and family member who gives their time to improve our neighborhoods and help where it's needed most. We're already 35% of the way toward beating our 2025 total—let's keep the momentum going!

On Friday, May 8, the Tampa International Airport (TPA) and Hensel Phelps hosted a large BBQ event for the project team to recognize Construction Safety Week. During the event, members from various projects and contractors were recognized for their exceptional commitment to on-site safety. APG Safety Compliance Officer Devin Wright and Electrician Konrad Sam were recognized and received a framed picture of the Airside D project with a personal letter of thanks from the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority and Michael Stephens, the CEO of TPA.

We appreciate Devin and Konrad’s commitment to safety and commend the rest of the team for their continued work on this landmark project!
