Behind the scenes secrets!! 1. Waterjet operators have a quality scale of 1-5 plus custom settings. For porcelain we use the slowest which is 5. 2. You cut porcelain super slow to keep the edges smooth. It cracks/fractures so easy so you don’t want stress points. 3. We can use low pressure to pierce and then ramp up to 60k psi to cut. 4. If you go to an inexperienced shop, take some pieces for them to test on and tell them to round the inside corners. Expect the smaller pieces to fracture regardless. Enjoy the photos!

Daily Sour Dough lesson three! Tariff effects. Don’t panic, stock market went way up today! China makes about 13 percent of our goods. Other countries are standing by to make goods for the US. Tarriffs were dropped for 90 days except for China which is cratering. We must get our manufacturing back in the US so we are not depending on possible war enemies to make our medications etc as they do now! As manufacturers run out of the old supplier’s parts (made by possible war enemies), it takes time to establish new suppliers. We can help you if you need parts manufacturing!

Daily Sour Bread lesson Two! Basic Electricity in 5th grade format. Resistance is measured in Ohms or “Sloams” because it slows down electricity. Current is measured in Amps or “Ants” so you can see the flow of electricity (or ants) walk down the street. Each “Ant” wears a leather jacket with an “i” embroidered on the back for math class problems. Voltage is basically like PSI in a tire. It’s measured in “V” Volts. If you put 220 psi (volts) in a 110 psi (volts) machine, it is too much and destroys it. Lots of tourists find that out the hard way. “W” Watts is Work done or basically lifting a 3/4 lb hamburger up one foot in one second. The easy way to picture it all is like water. Garden hose pushes 5 gallons per min or 5 Amps to make it easier to think of. You see the flow of water out of the hose. Resistance is your thumb over the tip of the hose (ohms or “sloams”). The smaller hole makes the water go farther but in a smaller stream! Voltage is how much push the water has behind it and Watts is basically moving all the dominoes sideways with the water to the side of the board. Diodes only let the electricity travel one direction and Capacitors save it all up and release it like football players running onto the field at the start of a game. This is why a saw won’t work at the end of a skinny 300 foot extension cord. The Ants or Amps can’t get all the way down! Heaters work by making the Ants or Amps fight to get down a small wire. Want lots of Watts or work done? Use a thick wire and lots of Amps! RIVW (R for Resistance, I for Current, V for Volts and W for Watts or work) are the letters. Multiply the first two for the third and multiply the second two for the fourth. Now you know!

Daily Sour Dough (play on words combining Daily=Biblical reference, Sour=pain of growth and Dough= Bread and Money). We are here to help you all through the pains of adapting and learning as we start gaining manufacturing jobs in the United States. Lesson one starts at the basics!!! There are four stages of learning. Rote, Understanding, Application and Correlation. Rote is basically repeating (abcdefg). Understanding is basically to grasp the meaning (we can put liquid in a container). Application is putting the knowledge to use (we can use a pipe to transfer water long distances). Correlation is using that knowledge in greater applications (common sense as in don’t p*e on an electric fence or off the side of a tractor and hit the distributor). The last stage of Correlation or Common Sense seems to of disappeared when shop class left schools. Like and Follow for more!
