We Support Clatskanie RFPD Local Option Levy Measure 5-292

CRFPD Local Option Levy. If passed, renewal of the local option levy will continue to provide funding for the District's current staffing levels.

Renewal will assist the budget with needed equipment, training and maintenance costs to enhance CRFPD.

If passed, renewal of the local option levy at same rate will continue to provide funding for the district's current staffing levels. In addition, renewal will assist the budget in needed equipment replacement, training, and maintenance costs to enhance CRFPD combination of career and volunteer personnel who respond to emergency incidents.
In 2022, CRFPD crews responded to 1355 calls for service, of which 61% were EMS related, with transports ranging from 30 minutes to four hours. This is a 21% increase in calls from 5 years ago.

👨‍🚒 A MESSAGE FROM THE FIRE CHIEF 🧑‍🚒

If approved, renewal of the five-year operating levy, at its current tax rate, will be used to maintain a level of response to fire and medical emergencies our community has come to expect. We have continued to live within our financial means to provide our current service model. Every year we look closely at every item in the budget and prioritize those items that allow us to accomplish our mission in a safe and effective manner. Since tax rates were fixed by a series of ballot measures two decades ago, property tax revenues, which account for a significant portion of our funds, have not kept pace with increasing costs of personnel, equipment, and operating expense. Renewal of the option levy bridges this gap.

This levy supports our current staffing and funds for equipment and training that enable us to continue to provide our current level of service. This has strengthened our overall response. In addition, frequency of simultaneous alarms and mutual aid responses have increased with our call volume impacting our service delivery. Volunteers will continue to play a vital role in providing timely emergency response. Clatskanie Rural Fire Protection District believes in, and is committed to, utilizing a combination of career and volunteer personnel to provide the most value for your tax dollars.
