Unplug and reconnect...a traditional craft as cure for a digital life. The idea of Spirit Creek Forge was conceived in 2020 out of a need to unplug from 30 years in the government technology industry and restore a sense of community, traditional values, self-reliance, and independence to my life that seemed to be missing. I felt a need to develop more meaningful relationships with my neighbors and

customers, and to produce physical goods with real value, not electrons and soft-copies. My love of European and American history guided me toward learning a traditional craft instead of opening a modern resale business. The concept of learning an ancient art, coupled with my love of history, inspired the vision that a blacksmith shop could provide a way to produce tangible items with value, provide a pathway to unplug from the digital world, and allow me reconnect with people and my community.
