Friends Dear and Customers of Bernie’s Westbrant Garage,
It is with a heavy heart that I announce, after 67 wonderful years, the closing of Bernie’s Westbrant Auto Parts & Repairs in 2020.
Bernie’s has been my heart and soul throughout my entire life. My father began Bernie’s in 1952. It supported his growing family, and I joined on full time in 1975. It was a gift to work along side my mother and father for so many years. I am forever grateful for the life and business lessons my parents taught me throughout my career. Integrity, honesty, hard work, and education were the cornerstones of Bernie’s. I hope that, in your eyes, I have lived up to those standards they set so long ago.
At the core of Bernie’s success were the thousands of loyal and supportive customers we’ve served, many of whom have become dear friends. Three generations of Weltmans, my mentor, Mr. Weakland, and dear Mrs. Hogan (whose crocheted afghans will keep me warm in my retirement). These are just a few of the many who have made each day one to remember. Thank you all for putting your trust in me; I hope I have served you well.
So, what comes next? As rumored, Bernie’s will make way for a new CVS Pharmacy. The process has been long and uncertain, but, at last, has been finalized.
Many have asked where to go for car repairs after we close. My personal recommendation is:
Frank’s Auto Repair & Auto Body, Inc. They are located close by at 56 S. Martine Ave in Fanwood. Please give them at call at 908-322-4075 or 732-381-1900
Their work is first class, and I know they will serve you well. Frank and his wife, Tracy, have carried on the same life and business lessons that we were taught by our parents. They are looking forward to meeting you, as well as providing you with great service.
Bernie’s will close for repairs on June 19,2020 . The store will remain open until July 17, 2020 to sell parts, accessories, equipment, tools, shelving, household items, cars and truck and antiques at drastically discounted prices.
In closing, let me again express my sincere gratitude for your support over these many years. I leave with a tear in my eye……..
I’d love to hear from you at [email protected].
With warm regards,
Bob Gittleman
