Industry update ✈️

Boeing announced plans to increase production of the 737 MAX from 42 to 47 aircraft per month following consultation with the FAA—an important step as the aviation industry continues focusing on operational reliability, safety, and meeting growing global demand.

For airports, manufacturers, and aviation partners across the industry, this reflects continued momentum toward strengthening infrastructure and supporting the future of air travel.

At NBP, we’re proud to support that future of NAS (National Airspace System) modernization, by providing the safest, most reliable airport approach lighting systems in the world. That's at its finest.

NBP hosted the FAA at our offices to evaluate the maturity and completeness of the projects currently in development at NBP. During the meetings, we reviewed our system functionalities in detail and demonstrated how we are designing and building our solutions to comply with applicable regulations. The FAA provided valuable feedback and clarification throughout the discussions.

Having the FAA present in person proved to be highly effective, as it allowed our teams to demonstrate capabilities collaboratively and address questions in real time. This format ensured that all stakeholders were aligned and that any issues or clarifications could be resolved immediately during the meetings.

We’re seeing exciting momentum across the aviation industry as new technologies shape the future of flight.

One thing is clear: AI is playing an increasingly important role in modernizing air traffic control—helping improve efficiency, reduce delays, and support controller workloads. But alongside this progress, a growing funding gap remains a key concern.

From our perspective, this is a critical moment for aviation. Advancing technology must be matched with investment, secure infrastructure, and thoughtful implementation to move the industry forward truly.

We believe bridging the gap between innovation and ex*****on will define the next era of aviation—and we’re committed to being part of that progress.

Our team was recently on-site in Detroit installing an ALSF-2 (Approach Lighting System with Sequenced Flashing Lights), a critical component in guiding aircraft safely during landing, especially in low-visibility conditions.

Fun fact: The ALSF-2 system can extend up to 2,400 feet from the runway threshold, providing pilots with essential visual cues to align and descend safely.

At NBP, we take pride in delivering high-performance lighting solutions that keep airports operating safely and efficiently—day and night.

In this week's spotlight: An insightful article from AIN Online explores how Pivotal is advancing the use of ultralight eVTOL aircraft for emergency medical services through a new pilot program in North Carolina. The initiative is evaluating how single-seat electric aircraft can support rapid-response operations, enabling trained paramedics to reach critical situations faster and more efficiently.

The concept highlights the growing role of advanced air mobility in public safety, particularly in areas where distance, terrain, or traffic can delay traditional response methods. At NBP, it’s exciting to follow innovations like these as the industry continues to explore new ways to enhance response times, improve operational efficiency, and ultimately support life-saving missions.

A recent report from Aviation News Today shared that Global Entry services have officially resumed at airports nationwide after a temporary pause caused by the recent U.S. Department of Homeland Security funding impasse.

Programs like Global Entry—managed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection—play an important role in keeping passenger flow efficient by allowing pre-approved, low-risk travelers to move through customs faster while officers focus on higher-risk screenings. While the program is now back online, some airports may still experience longer wait times as Transportation Security Officers continue working during the ongoing shutdown.

At NBP, we always appreciate seeing technology and programs that help improve efficiency and safety across the aviation ecosystem. Thanks to Aviation News Today for continuing to keep the industry informed. ✈️
