TwoHoneys Bee Co. Honeybees are cool. The more I learn about them, the cooler they become. And the cooler my friends think I become, too. You never know.

So, I hope you find this page helpful to you as you learn more about bees. But I can’t promise that’s the only topic I’ll cover here. Bees make me think about a lot of different things.

Candice Jones Peelman sent this image of her small beekeeper who is smoking one of their top-bar hives—-the bees in this hive were a gift this season from Nicola Mason, who returned last year’s favor when Candace shared her bounty with Nicola (and many others!). These are my favorite beekeeping stories.

Another comb shaped likes Texas (without the Panhandle...sorry Amarillo and friends)! And another beekeeper wearing her mask. I go through several masks each day because my nose runs so much in it on these hot days. But it’s worth it to be outside yet close to my friends. :)

This is certainly excellent news, friends...but let me emphatically say that honey should not be considered "cheap." Good food like local, treatment-free, raw honey is not inexpensive...so enjoy it in moderation.

Research suggests honey also more effective than many over-the-counter medicines

George took some beautiful pictures yesterday before bees entered his veil. Then we didn’t see George again. But even before George vanished, we’d collected a good bit of gorgeous, raw, unadulterated honey. When we finished, we had twice this much. From now on, we need to carry a bucket and not a bowl to the apiary.

We’re still busy seeing bees and watching out for one another by wearing our masks. Hey, we adapt and carry on just as the bees do. This is Tony who runs two top-bar hives and one deep horizontal hive. All Tony’s colonies are doing great.

Yesterday, George forgot to bring his mask with him to the hives, so he stood back and took these pictures. I think this worked out great for George. :) Abram and I wore our masks, and friends, these three colonies are exploding with bees and honey. The weather was lovely, and we were all quite pleased.

This is my friend Chip. A little swarm recently moved into an empty hive he keeps on his Mt. Adams deck, so we checked it out together. Chip met me at his door with a mask and hand sanitizer. Isn’t that thoughtful of him? I really like Chip.

Fleming's mother once kept bees, and this season, Fleming has stepped into her mother's wonderful shoes...even using her mother's vintage smoker and sturdy steel hive stand. Fleming's son, Angus, is also becoming a beekeeper this summer...three collaborating generations.

Fleming's mother probably never wore a mask when she kept her bees, but we sort of consider it standard protective equipment this season. :) What's more, when Fleming's non-beekeeping children and their friends come out to watch us or visit, they wear their masks too. I find that an extraordinarily kind and mannerly gesture. Thanks, Ackermans!

This year, Lynda’s harvesting quite a bit of honey...but it took years of work. Honey doesn’t simply materialize because we want it to happen. It’s not a snap-of-the-finger outcome to wishful thinking. And neither is the end to this pandemic. We need patience and good practices for both. See Lynda’s white flowers in her wildflower field? See Lynda’s mask? Ask Lynda if it’s all worth it.

Y’all, this is Abram. Abram is collecting some honey from his wildly productive top-bar hive. Abe is one of those quiet men who is super wonderful and smart...he doesn’t care if his work shirt is buttoned up all crazy wrong. That’s part of his charm. But, look! He cares that he’s wearing a mask because he cares about me. :)
