These are the days we hate. The days when a small spark can turn into something much bigger.
Today brought relentless wind, wildfires, and dangerous conditions across multiple states. We had trucks trying to navigate not only the weather, but active fires — including two drivers working to get from southeast Texas to southwest Kansas with a large fire directly in their path. Here at home in Kansas, accidents and hazardous roads forced several of our drivers to stop and wait, choosing safety for themselves and the cattle over pushing forward.
These are the days we dread. The days we pray harder for our drivers searching for the safest route, for the cattle in their care, and for the ranchers whose livelihoods are at risk. And especially for the first responders who stand in harm’s way to protect everyone else.
Days like this remind us why preparation matters. Why caution matters. Why people matter.
We prepare for the worst, and we pray for the best. Always.
