Our professional team brings experience and utilizes the best products and equipment to elevate the beauty and value of your property. We are a locally owned and operated lawn care company from Bel Air Maryland. That may sound 'nice' but really, what makes Amazing Grass different from other lawn care companies . . .

-We start with a soil test. The biggest benefit of soil testing is it provides us

with your soils pH and measures the availability of soil minerals and nutrients. A soil test is the best way to determine what is needed for a healthy lawn. We will check your soil every 3 years.

-To ensure 100% coverage for weed control we spray all of our chemicals. All edges also receive a full rate of chemical. Normal industry standard is a ½ rate which saves chemical cost but could allow for weeds to surface.

-Adjuvants are added to all of our chemicals. Adjuvants provide a consistent spray pattern / droplet size for drift reduction. They also help the chemical stick to the leaf surface. Once the chemical is applied to the plant it will start working and there is no need to worry that rain will wash it away. Additionally, chemicals breakdown quickly in water; the adjuvants prevent chemical breakdown for maximum performance.

-Our spring lawn care program fertilizer contains no filler. Most fertilizer blends contain inactive ingredients in the bag. This filler of clay, ground corn cob, limestone, etc. We use the highest quality fertilizer available. Our Spring Wake Up application is loaded with Amino Acids that are essential for healthy grass. The summer application is an enhanced efficiency fertilizer. The controlled-release reduces the growth spikes and feast & famine effect that is produced with other fertilizers that are applied at 6 week intervals. There is actually nothing basic about our basic Grub Program. We apply a proven grub product along with a surface feeder product that will actually give you some mosquito control for a brief time while controlling pesky insects that want to eat your yard. Other companies charge separately for this service.

Previous experience in lawn care, landscaping, turf management, agriculture, or other outdoor work is a plus, but not required. We are willing to train motivated individuals.

🌿 WHY is there a National Diatomaceous Earth Day? We "celebrate" it on August 31! BUT WHY? You may have seen the white, powdery substance called diatomaceous earth (DE) in garden centers, but did you know it comes from the microscopic remains of ancient organisms? 🌎 Nature has some fascinating ways of solving problems, and this is a perfect example of how something formed millions of years ago can still have practical uses today!

🦠 What exactly is diatomaceous earth?
Diatomaceous earth is a naturally occurring, silica-rich material made primarily from the fossilized remains of diatoms, tiny aquatic organisms with intricate, glass-like shells. Over millions of years, these microscopic shells accumulated in sediment, forming deposits that can be mined and processed into a fine powder.

🐜 How does it work as a pest control?
Unlike many conventional pesticides, DE doesn't primarily work by poisoning insects. Its microscopic particles are abrasive and can damage the waxy outer coating of certain insects. Once that protective coating is compromised, the insect can lose moisture and eventually die.

🌱 Common garden and yard uses include:
• Helping control crawling insects such as ants, earwigs, cockroaches, and some beetles
• Protecting plants from certain insect pests
• Use around garden beds and other areas where crawling insects are a problem
• Some forms are used in animal-care settings for specific pest-control purposes

BACK-TO-SCHOOL, SUMMER MEMORIES...It was late August; the smell of gasoline and freshly mowed grass filled the afternoon air. I pushed the heavy mower through the thick grass. Each pass seemed like a step closer to the end of summer, making the shift from July’s freedom to September’s structure. Every row counted down the hours until a carefree afternoon would give way to indoor desks and ticking classroom clocks.

Once dusk fell, the lawn became the stage for summer’s last antics. Kids from down the street ran through the failing light with flashlights in hand, bare feet kicking up the cool dew that signaled autumn nights were ahead. Later, we collapsed on a rough blanket with damp sneakers and grass-stained knees, and looked up at the stars and talked in quiet, anxious whispers about new teachers, harder classes, and the end of our three months of freedom.
