So we missed the first week of the season enjoying ourself in sunny Florida, but got back and tapped in. The run has been great for a week and have been storing sap waiting for time to boil. Well I came home from work today to see steam rolling out of the shack and almost half the sap in the sugarhouse run through the evaporator! The oldest son is turning into a real sugar maker with his first day of boiling by himself under his belt and I couldn’t be prouder!!

So yesterday we got all the lines rehung after having to remove them for logging over the last summer and fall. What a ton of fun that was! Now we will let them sit and stretch for a few days before putting final tension back on them and installing the gathering tanks.

Next step is get the sugarhouse cleaned and ready to boil.

The season is over, the lines pulled and put away, almost everything is cleaned up. Thanks to all who supported and visited this season!
