Sometimes you come across some DIY projects that need a little refurbishment. This client called me and wanted her self designed and built system rebuilt as it was. The old pallet had rotted and caved in in the middle. There were only 4 blocks at the corners. So, after some demo, I replaced the base pallet and placed some more blocks to prevent the pallet from caving again due to the weight. She was very happy to have her system back to 100%

When your rainwater collection system runs over in the winter....

10/04/2018

With today's water main break here in Childress, I am reminded about why I started collecting rainwater for that "rainy day". Well that day is here folks... and it's raining. If you dont already need to flush your toilet since the water has been off this morning, your going to soon. It's currently raining! Set out your buckets and catch some of it for your minimal needs.
If anyone has questions about how you can start with a small storage tank at your place, please give me a call and we can discuss your options.

Hey everyone... it's raining outside. I encourage you to set out any container under your drip/roof lines that will catch some water. It may be awhile before we can flush our toilets? Catch what you can, when you can. I would boil any caught water if you plan on drinking it.

Installed a couple more tanks at a client's house. These will double her storage capacity.

As of Aug 1st, CETS will no longer provide bridge inspection services as CETS. Gary and Donna will be adding their professional bridge inspection skills and knowledge to the RIO Engineering team out of Austin. Although it's bittersweet, this move will allow us to be home in Childress and continue doing what we do as professionals, all while adding to an already well established and well respected engineering firm. Very little will change for us on a daily basis as it relates to bridge inspection.
I want to thank the bridge inspection fraternity as a whole as well as all the individuals who freely accepted me and shared their professional expertise with me over the last 7+ years. Their tutelage and expert advice and leadership were invaluable to making me a better inspector and to our great success. To those who fed us their overflow work and shared even when they may not have had much to share, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your successes helped us be successful as well. Again, thanks for always treating me with respect and as one of your own. I will be forever grateful for the support and guidance.

Rainwater collection, however, will continue to be provided without any changes in staffing or operation. Please continue to feel free to contact Gary at 585-7379 to discuss all things rainwater. Remember, we have a website that has lots of info and photos to browse through. That address is panhandlerain.com

Let it rain up in here!!!
4500 gallons of storage off one side of this client's large barn. 3000 gallons on one corner and the added porch at the other corner limited the size of that tank to 1500 gallons. Plans for use include landscape, garden and water for animals & pets.

Here is a new one for us. Client has a flooding issue at the outfall of the gutter downspout at this corner. Water ponds and has eroded under his house. In an effort to remove the flow and keep it from standing around the foundation, they have elected to place a 500 gallon holding tank with the overflow exiting at the curb line. The 500 gallons will be used for the landscaping in the immediate area and the majority of his flooding will be conveyed to the gutter line.

Nice work if it passes. This, along with no sales tax on rainwater collection supplies (already in effect in Texas), would save some homeowners even more money. And we all know that true conservation only happens for most people once the pocket book is affected, either be it negatively or positively.

State Rep. Jason Isaac, R-Dripping Springs, has introduced a bill that could offer a tax break to homeowners with a rainwater harvesting system.

Quite possibly the most aesthetic looking install to date, in my opinion. The tanks are a discontinued size and we found em in a warehouse in central Texas. I am impressed how closely they match the west wall of this new greenhouse in Lubbock. The 2 tanks total 1240 gallons of storage and will be emptied quickly due to the design and size of the greenhouse. She has sent me on a trek to see if I can find some more of these tanks hidden in the depths of some warehouse somewhere...
