Habitat for Humanity of Butte County

Habitat for Humanity of Butte County Bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope. Habitat for Humanity International was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller, a U.S.

married couple who left a successful business and affluent lifestyle to live a life of Christian service. Working with farmer and biblical scholar Clarence Jordan, they developed the concept of helping the poor secure adequate shelter by enlisting volunteers to work side by side with families to build simple, affordable houses where they can raise their children. Habitat for Humanity has long been

recognized for its leadership in revitalizing neighborhoods across the country, creating vibrant, and inviting places to live for current and future residents. OUR VISION
A world where everyone has a decent place to live. OUR MISSION
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. OUR VALUES
We believe that every one of us deserves the opportunity for a bright future. We believe that, with a little help, we all have the potential to stand on our own. We believe in justice, equality, and radical inclusivity. We believe that decent shelter is something we all need to grow and prosper. We believe that safe and stable homes are the lifeblood of strong and stable communities. We believe that each of us can do something to help a family build a better life for themselves and create a thriving community for us all. RESTORE:

🚨Starting today!: 75% off everything, excluding items with green tags which will be 50% off, through June 18!

To focus on its mission of building local affordable homeownership opportunities, Habitat for Humanity of Butte County is permanently closing the ReStore.

The ReStore, located at 220 Meyers St. in Chico, will continue to operate until June 18. The store is currently open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

This transition allows Habitat to fully focus on partnering with local families to build affordable homes. Habitat will continue to build homes in Paradise and Chico, with the goal of building six to ten new homes per year.

Habitat is deeply grateful to its ReStore shoppers, donors, volunteers, and staff. Their support has helped Habitat build homes, strengthen communities, and create homeownership opportunities.

June is National Homeownership Month, and affordable homeownership needs to be on California’s to-do list:

✅ Build more homes families can afford to own
✅ Preserve affordable homeownership opportunities
✅ Invest in proven programs that help working families build stability
✅ Restore funding for CalHome

As final state budget negotiations continue, we need one more strong push to make sure CalHome is included in the final 2026-2027 State Budget. CalHome is California’s only state program dedicated to the production and preservation of affordable homes for ownership. But the Governor’s May Revise included no funding for it. This National Homeownership Month, help us send a clear message: California must invest in homes families can afford to own.

California’s 2026-2027 state budget negotiations are in the final stretch and affordable homeownership funding is on the line. We need to make sure CalHome, California’s only state program dedicated to the production and preservation of affordable homes for ownership, is a part of the budget.

CalHome provides grants to local public agencies and nonprofits, like Habitat for Humanity of Butte County, to enable low- and very low-income households to become homeowners. Without renewed funding, affordable homeownership projects led by all types of organizations across the state could stall.

Homeownership is the pathway to economic stability and growth for not only individuals but entire communities. When families own their homes they’re able to reinvest in their communities and that’s a win for everyone.
