Meet Lamar Johnson from HydroAire 40th Street.

Lamar’s career as a manual machinist started because the car mechanic class he signed up for in high school was full. The instructor told him to try the machinist class down the hall, and over 50 years later, Lamar is still a manual machinist. For 16 of those years, he’s been with HydroAire 40th Street. Most recently he’s stepped into the role of Machinist Trainer, passing the hard-won lessons of decades working with machine tools to the next generation of machinists.

When he’s not working, Lamar likes to ride his bike, play golf and billiards, and do a bit of carpentry. He built his garage, some cabinets, and other odds and ends around his house. He also enjoys spending time with his 19 grandkids.

Lamar has been instrumental to thousands of jobs at HydroAire 40th over his years at the shop. We’re proud to have him as part of the team and grateful for his years of dedicated service. Thank you Lamar!
