It's that time of year! Join us in supporting the Respiratory Health Association!

As we have done in the past, we are continuing our support of the Respiratory Health Association this February with another run up the stairs of the (formerly known as) Hancock!

So many of you have been wonderfully generous over the past years, and for that we are very grateful! We are hoping to raise at least $3500 as a team, and Walt IV is hoping to raise $1600 as a Lung Health Champion. We would be grateful to have your support.

For the 15th year in a row FTL has a climb team, Flood's Floundering Flighters! We've raised over $80,000 since 2011! In the past we've climbed in memory of some special people who have battled lung health. We continue to climb to fight for all those who have fought or are still fighting lung disease: Bob, Julie, Glenn, Theodore, Jack, Papa, Megan, Steve, Ann, and everyone that finds themselves fighting with lung disease. Please donate and help us fight in their names. Every little bit helps. All donations will support the mission of the Respiratory Health Association to promote healthy lungs and fight lung disease through research, advocacy, and education.

The Respiratory Health Association (RHA) does a wonderful job working to educate, advocate, and improve research on Lung Disease and Lung Ailments. They have also been very present in the hospital supporting friends in the past while they fought lung disease to their last breaths.

Since 2006, FTL has been racing up the stairs of the Hancock, raising money for the Respiratory Health Association. This year, we are at it again, but we happen to have a few spots left on our climb team? Anyone looking to put in a little bit of work on a Sunday morning (February 23) and be rewarded with an epic view of sunrise over the Lake?? Drop us a line if you're interested!

Proud to be a corporate sponsor of the ACI Illinois Chapter Toys for Tots event last night. The chapter, including our Vice President, Walter Flood IV, M.S., P.E., F.ACI (a Board Director), rallied over 60 attendees to raise money and provide gifts for hundreds of local families.

Way to go!

FTL has been assisting Bulley & Andrews with a sweet gymnasium expansion on the south side. Today the existing columns are getting chopped out and the gym (which is still in use) roof loads transferring onto the new truss spanning the full length of the gym! A deceptively complex project engineered by the gurus at Thornton Tomasetti

Thanks to everyone that helped us raise money for Respiratory Health Association during Hustle Chicago this year! Our climbers were able to raise a total of $6045 to fight lung disease and associated ailments.

We’d love to have more join us next winter - let Walt IV know if you’re interested!

A discussion about embodied carbon between Walt Flood IV and Alan Sparkman

"I think carbon is a good thing to look at and be proactive on and at least have some background knowledge before it's just a mandate and you're kind of left trying to catch up."

A snippet of a very informative podcast episode about the drive to reduce carbon emissions! In this episode, Walter Flood IV, Assistant Engineer for Flood Testing Labs, Inc., sits down with host Alan Sparkman to discuss and explore sustainability, carbon neutrality, and concrete's role in reducing emissions. Give it a listen today! https://loom.ly/qHxN2_4

As we have done in the past, Flood Testing is continuing their support of the Respiratory Health Association. This year we are finally back into the Hancock to climb some real stairs!

https://resphealth.donordrive.com/participant/Walt-Flood-Hustle-2023

So many of you have been wonderfully generous over the past years, and for that we are very grateful! We are hoping to raise at least $7500 as a team.

Flood's Floundering Flighters has raised over $80,000 since 2011! This year we are finally back in the Hancock with two teams set to climb the stairs to raise money to fight Lung Disease.

In the past we've climbed in memory of some special people who have battled lung health. This year, we climb again in memory of our dear friend, employee, and long time team supporter, Bob Maule. Bob struggled with COPD for many years before passing away just over a year ago. We miss him dearly and hope that by climbing we can raise money to help those like him who struggle with lung ailments and with the goal to ultimately be able to more effectively treat and reverse such crippling afflictions. We also climb to fight for all those we have climbed for in the past: Julie, Glenn, Theodore, Jack, Papa, Megan, Steve, Ann, and everyone that finds themselves fighting with lung disease. Please donate and help us fight in their names. Every little bit helps. All donations will support the mission of the Respiratory Health Association to promote healthy lungs and fight lung disease through research, advocacy, and education.

This will be my 18th year racing up steps to help RHA, Niki's 12th(ish), Liam's 5th, and Evelyn's 1st! Once again, I am relying on your help to help get me to my personal fundraising goal of $1500! The Respiratory Health Association (RHA) does a wonderful job working to educate, advocate, and improve research on Lung Disease and Lung Ailments. They have also been very present in the hospital supporting friends in the past while they fought lung disease to their last breaths.

The team will likely be climbing again next year - if you'd like to join us, reach out!

Flood Testing was busy at the recent American Concrete Institute (ACI) Convention in Dallas, TX. In addition to technical committee work, Walt Flood IV oversaw the pervious concrete student competition, with the help of Andres Matos, who also is an acting co-chair of Committee S806, the Young Professionals Committee. Come join us at the next convention this April in San Francisco!

In today’s market, it is imperative to be knowledgeable and have an edge over the competition. ACI members have it…they are engaged, informed, and stay up to date by taking advantage of benefits that ACI membership provides them.
