Earlier this year CBS (WBBM in Chicago) ran a story about the redevelopment of Cabrini Green into the North Town Village section of this project. As the Architect for this project, we would like to share this enormous undertaking with you.
In 1999 Main Architecture (known then as Bauhs Dring Seglin Main) was hired by Peter Holsten of Holsten Real Estate development Corporation and Hal Lichterman of Kenard Realty to provide the architectural services for the development of the new North Town Village here in Chicago. The City of Chicago had developed the Near North Redevelopment Initiative (NNRI) to replace the crime-ridden and unsafe Cabrini Green buildings and invited developers and realtors to answer a Request for Qualifications to determine the best way to move forward with this groundbreaking initiative. Holsten Real Estate and Kenard Realty were chosen to develop the North Town Village section of this project and Bauhs Dring Seglin Main was privileged to be chosen as the Architect for this project. The link below will bring you to a full explanation of the project as explained by the Urban Land Institute .
