BICS controller not working – What Most Owners Don’t Know
Many machine owners struggle to determine whether a controller is actually faulty. Here’s a simple breakdown to help you better understand the system behavior:
1️⃣ Traction Not Activating (No BICS Light, No Blinking)
If the traction function does not engage and the BICS light is OFF (no blinking error), the issue is typically not the BICS controller itself.
👉 In most cases, the BICS controller is not receiving the RPM signal.
2️⃣ Lift/Tilt Not Activating (No BICS Light, No Blinking)
If lift and tilt functions do not respond and the BICS light is OFF (no blinking error):
👉 The BICS controller is not receiving the READY signal from the AHC controller.
How the System Works:
The AHC system must pass a self-test before enabling functions. This includes:
• Actuator verification
• Hand sensor neutral position check
✅ Only after a successful test will the AHC send a READY signal to the BICS controller.
Important:
• If the AHC system has an issue, errors will usually appear on the left handle (blinking led)
• The BICS controller may still show lift/tilt errors, especially on machines without AHC
⸻
⚠️ Conclusion:
In many cases, the controller is wrongly blamed. The real issue often comes from missing signals (RPM / READY) rather than a defective unit.
