At USG, safety is a core value that guides every decision we make and every action we take. Creating safe workplaces requires more than policies and procedures—it requires people who are willing to lead, take ownership, and look out for one another every day.

We're proud to recognize our newest Safety Champions, whose contributions demonstrate that safety leadership exists across all areas of our business. With between five and ten years of service at USG, these employees have built a deep understanding of our operations and have used that experience to make a lasting impact on safety. Coming from different departments, disciplines, and backgrounds, each has found unique ways to strengthen our culture of care and accountability.

Every strong safety culture is built by people who choose to get involved, challenge the status quo, and look for better ways to protect those around them. At USG, we are proud to recognize a group of Safety Champions who are doing exactly that.

With just two to five years of service, these employees are still early in their USG careers, yet they have already emerged as influential safety leaders within their teams and facilities. Through their willingness to take ownership, participate in safety initiatives and drive meaningful improvements, they are helping shape safer workplaces for today and the future.

Their contributions span a wide range of efforts—from strengthening safety programs and training resources to improving pedestrian safety, hazard recognition, incident prevention, workplace organization and employee engagement. USG is committed to giving back to the communities where we live and work. Every year, teams across the company have the opportunity to select a local nonprofit organization to receive a $5,000 grant from the USG Foundation as part of our Give Local program.

The USG Securock® Brand team recently supported the Roofing industry’s strong tie to the
Ronald McDonald House and took part in a Roofing Alliance volunteer event in Las Vegas and awarded a Give Local grant to Ronald McDonald House Fort Worth to support its mission to provide a “home away from home” for families in need whose children are being treated for serious illnesses and other debilitating injuries at nearby hospitals.

USG is proudly operating with the future in mind.

In a recent conversation with Green Building & Design (gb&d) Magazine, our CTO Dr. Srinivas Veeramasuneni shared how USG is helping rethink waste in the construction industry by working towards a closed loop system that eliminates waste and reuses material. In large part due to our Take Back program, launched in 2023, that collects clean gypsum scrap from job sites and reintegrates it into new products.

In the feature, Dr. “Vas” Srinivas Veeramasuneni explains how USG is working with each customer to find the best solution depending on plant capacity, geography, and external constraints. Last year alone, we diverted nearly 10,000 tons of material from landfills through the Take Back program—enough to avoid close to 1,600 tons of CO₂ equivalent, or the same as powering 225 homes for a year.

As Dr. Vas notes: “The main aim is to preserve natural resources for future generations.”

What an inspiring evening! USG was honored to welcome the talented members of International Interior Design Association (IIDA) to our 18th floor showroom for an exclusive gathering to kick off their Chicago Design Week and annual meetings.

Our space was buzzing with creative energy as leading designers and architects mingled over curated sips and bites while exploring our latest ceiling innovations for a firsthand experience of what’s possible when design vision meets material expertise.

A highlight of the night: celebrating the recipients of the IIDA Chapter Leadership Awards—congratulations to the winners who left with some lovely prizes! We’re proud to support and recognize thought leadership in the interior design community.
