Originally called Decoration Day, Memorial Day began as a tradition of decorating graves with flowers, wreaths, and flags in honor of those who gave their lives serving our country. 🇺🇸

Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

We wrapped up another great year this week with Mr. Todd's 4th grade class with a visit to the Pilot Rock landmark!

Students had the opportunity to experience the massive glacial boulder up close while learning about the history behind the Pilot Rock name, local wildlife, native prairie plants, and the importance of this unique landmark to both Native American travelers and early settlers.

A special thank you to Laura Jones from Cherokee County Conservation Board for joining us and sharing her knowledge of northwest Iowa’s natural history and conservation efforts.

We always enjoy partnering with Cherokee Schools and the Cherokee IA Chamber of Commerce to help students connect classroom learning with local history, manufacturing, nature, and community.

Thanks for a great day, Mr. Todd’s class — we hope you enjoyed the adventure as much as we did!
