I was blessed to learn from Dave, I spent many Friday nights bashing steel and making sparks fly with him.
Admiring the past work of knifemaker David Wesner who passed away last week. A Takedown camp knife from a gifted knifemaker.
⠀
Prior to making knives, Wesner worked with steel in the mold making and machining industry for 25+ years. He used that experience to create custom knives and other outdoor tools. He took a lot of pride in creating useable blades and developed very specific heat treat regimens for each and every steel when it cane to hardening & tempering. He specialized in camp knives, hunters, survival knives and more, and used with a variety of steels and materials. He created knives that were meant to be functional and long-lasting.
⠀
A quote from Wesner’s website:
“Research and learning about "Bladesmithing" has become a lifelong learning experience for me. Every Blade I make brings new experience, along with many new questions. My goal is to bring the customer the absolute best possible tool that can be made. I am confident that my passion for knifemaking is evident in each and every knife and sheath I make. I strive for perfection.”
⠀
Rest In Peace David.
