A new machine isn’t the only way to add capacity.

Sometimes there’s more capability sitting on your floor than you’re currently using.

That’s one reason we put so much emphasis on training and applications support at MachineTech. Better programming, smarter setups, and a deeper understanding of the control can shave time from a process without changing a single piece of equipment.

Before asking what machine you need next, it’s worth asking: Are we getting everything we can out of the machines we already have?

The machines may get faster, the technology more advanced, and automation more capable, but there are still skilled people behind every part that comes off the floor.

The machinists. Programmers. Engineers. Maintenance teams. Service technicians. Toolmakers. Operators. And everyone else who keeps American manufacturing moving.

We’re fortunate to work alongside them every day.

Happy Labor Day from all of us at MachineTech. 🇺🇸

That’s a wrap on two days of programming training.

We had six manufacturing engineers from one of our Virginia Hurco customers at MachineTech this week, digging deeper into programming and learning ways to work more efficiently with the machines they already have.

Because investing in equipment is only part of the equation. Investing in the people running it can pay off every single day.

Thanks to the team for spending a couple of days with us. Now it’s time to take what they learned back to the shop floor and put it to work.

If you're interested in getting your team in for training, give us a call. We have muliple training options available.

📣 CAN WE HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE 📣

IF you are going to take advantage of the Mills are Alive promo from Hurco, you are running out of time and stock to do so. You only have until the end of September to take advantage of the promo pricing and it's only while these 6 machines are in stock. So if you've had your eye on a VMONE, VM10, VM15D, VM20, VM30, or a VMX42 give us a call today and let's get it ordered.

This week, the classroom is part of the shop floor.

We’re getting ready to welcome six manufacturing engineers from one of our Virginia Hurco customers to MachineTech for two full days of training.

Their goal isn’t simply to learn more features. It’s to take what they’re already doing and find ways to program more efficiently, improve their processes, and get more out of their Hurco machines.

This is one of the parts of what we do that doesn’t always make it onto social media. Delivering the machine is just the beginning. Making sure the people running it have the knowledge and confidence to use its capabilities is where a lot of the long-term value comes from.

We’re looking forward to having their machining team with us this week.

IMTS is almost here. Is meeting with MachineTech on your schedule yet?

There’s a LOT to see at IMTS, and wandering around McCormick Place hoping you run into the right person isn’t exactly a strategy.

If your shop is in North or South Caroina, Virginia or West Virginia and there’s a machine, technology, or application you want to dig into, schedule time with your MachineTech rep before the show.

We can meet you at the booths, walk through the equipment with you, answer questions, and help make sure you see what’s most relevant to your shop.

Reach out now to get a time on the calendar. See you in Chicago!

27 years. That's a pretty good run.

Emcon Machine recently said goodbye to their 1999 Hurco BMC20 and welcomed a brand-new Hurco VMONE to the shop.

There's something pretty cool about seeing one generation of Hurco replaced by the next after nearly three decades of making parts.

The technology has changed quite a bit since 1999, but we'd say 27 years on the shop floor is one heck of a retirement résumé.

Congratulations to the team at EMCON Machine on the new VMONE. We can't wait to see what the next 27 years bring!

A pallet changer doesn't make the spindle cut any faster. It helps keep the spindle cutting.

And that can be a gamechanger.

Think about how much time a machining center spends waiting while an operator unloads a finished part, cleans the fixture, loads the next part, checks the setup and gets everything ready to run again.

With a pallet changer, that work can happen while the machine is still running.

One pallet is inside the machine running the job. The other is outside, where the operator can unload, reload and prepare the next setup. When the cycle is finished, the pallets exchange and the next job can get moving.

For the right applications, pallet changing can help shops:
• Increase spindle utilization
• Reduce setup-related idle time
• Keep work flowing between cycles
• Make better use of an operator's time
• Create a foundation for longer periods of unattended production

Sometimes improving productivity isn't about removing another second from the cut. It's about looking at everything that happens between the cuts.

How much could three seconds really cost you?

On one part? Not much.

Across thousands and thousands of parts? Now we're talking.

When you're choosing a lathe for high-volume production, the little things matter: thermal stability, rigidity, automation, turret travel, tooling and changeover time.
