In early January, two Wildlands scientists attended the “Drought and Aquatic Ecosystems in the Southeast” workshop in Raleigh, NC. As leaders in the stream restoration industry, it is important to stay current on the latest drought trends. The goal of the workshop was to understand the impacts of low-flow and drought on natural systems to inform future research needs, management practices, and adaptations planning.

One highlight for our scientists was touring a laboratory that specializes in research and propagation of federally listed freshwater species that Wildlands has worked so hard to protect with our Conservation Easements throughout Swift Creek at our Great Meadows Mitigation Bank Site. Thank you SECASC and NIDIS for hosting us!

Summer Internship Opportunity! Wildlands is seeking a motivated individual to assist our Asheville team through a hybrid Land Stewardship/Scientist summer internship position. We are looking for a student enrolled in a B.S. or M.S. program for environmental or biological sciences, landscape architecture, forestry, or related applicable scientific discipline or engineering discipline. The position is a paid, full-time, hourly internship that will include both office and field work.
