“September Morning Glory” - Birth Flower Series 9 of 12

This flower in the series is the only one with a unique background color! I changed it several times and am honestly debating changing it again. My plan for the birth flower series was to have the backgrounds be the complementary color to whatever the flower’s predominant color was, but with the exception of the morning glory that made all of the backgrounds yellow, purple, or blue! It makes this particular background feel like a break in the series - especially since orange is blue’s complementary color but the orange backgrounds I tried simply looked washed out. I’d love to hear some thoughts and opinions!

Birth month flowers have been around for a long time - they’re similar to different gemstones for each birth month, just not as often spoken about! Plus, most months have two birth flowers (some even have three!) since in different parts of the world certain flowers aren’t available.
This was the biggest series I had ever painted - and it may become bigger one day! I’ve wanted to do the secondary birth month flowers in addition to the original twelve, not to mention many of these flowers come in a wide variety of colors too.
Birth flowers make a perfect gift: They’re personal because you can tailor which kind you get based on the receiver’s birthday and they’re perfect for all occasions - birthdays, holidays, weddings, funerals, and celebrations. A painting of a birth flower is even better because it will last forever and doesn’t need water 😎
If you would like to commission any flower in a different color, orientation, number of flowers or multiple types, etc. just let me know! I’d happily take on any flower commissions - even if they aren’t birth flowers.
