💪 Core Natural Resources delivered a stronger-than-expected second quarter, with revenue and profit both clearing Wall Street forecasts.
The coal producer generated $1.14 billion in sales, up 3.5% from the same period last year. Analysts had expected roughly $1.12 billion, leaving the company 1.7% ahead of consensus.
GAAP earnings reached $2.51 per share, far above the $0.64 estimate. Operating margin improved sharply to 13.7%, compared with a negative 1.7% margin one year earlier.
Adjusted EBITDA margin climbed to 41.1%, an increase of 28 percentage points from the prior-year quarter. The result also came in 132% above analysts’ expectations, showing a major improvement in quarterly profitability.
Cash generation remained positive, although it softened year over year. Core Natural Resources produced $101.9 million in free cash flow, equal to an 8.9% margin. That was down from 11.9% during the second quarter of 2025.
