His latest project is a creative expression using one of his favorite materials; corrugated board. Corrugated board is not "cardboard" a common mistake, but rather a paper-based material consisting of a fluted corrugated sheet and one or two flat linerboards. Corrugated board is commonly used in shipping containers but Jeff has found a way to extend its use. His art form is called, Corrunista™ and
to date Jeff has constructed a myriad of decorative and functional pieces. "I immensely enjoy the process of creating and discerning how different layers can interact to create something that pleases the eye. The shapes intermingle and flow together with the exposed flutes to create a unique sculpture. Corrugated board is a wonderful, sturdy renewable resource with outstanding design properties. It is also environmentally friendly." Each piece starts as heavy-duty sheets of corrugated board. The boards are imprinted with a unique design, then individually cut on CNC equipment, and laminated into a solid structure. Some designs use as many as 60 layers. The final product is a truly unique and original blend of material and design. Each creation is recycled (10-90%) and renewable.
