🌸 What’s Blooming Around the Place Right Now? 🌸

It’s cold and rainy today, but all this moisture will help everything grow, and the bees will love it!

One of my favorite things this time of year is seeing all the plants come to life.

Of course, we love seeing the blackberry blossoms appear—they’re an important nectar source for the bees. But I get especially excited when the white elderberry blooms start showing up because I know those blossoms will soon turn into beautiful blue elderberries. That means it’s almost time to make another batch of elderberry syrup!

I was convinced we had lost our catmint, but surprise! It popped back up and is looking beautiful. It just needs a little TLC and it will be thriving again.

Our English lavender is starting to show off its blooms, and the bees are looking forward to that.

The Juniper’s Beard is blooming with gorgeous pink flowers and adding a wonderful splash of color to the landscape.

And this stunning peony continues to be one of my favorites. Glen, one of our beekeepers, gave it to me a few years ago, and every year it amazes me with its beauty. It’s a wonderful reminder of the friendships and community that come with beekeeping.

What’s blooming around your place right now? We’d love to see photos in the comments! 🐝🌿🌸 #🐝🌿🌸

We often have customers asking for unassembled hive boxes. While we typically don’t keep them in stock for long, there’s a good reason why.

As woodenware sits unassembled, natural shrinking and swelling can occur due to changes in humidity and temperature. To ensure the best fit and quality, we prefer to assemble boxes within a couple of weeks of receiving them.

Good news! We just received a shipment of unassembled commercial deep boxes and are currently putting them together. That means you have a limited-time opportunity to purchase them before they’re assembled for the store.

💰 Save $3 per box by taking them unassembled!

This offer is only available while our current stock lasts. Once they’re assembled, they’re sold at regular price.

🏁 The race is on! If you’ve been waiting for unassembled deep boxes, now’s your chance.

First come, first served—don’t let us get them all assembled before you claim yours!

Tuesday morning inspection is underway…on rotation is our HiveIQ hives! 🐝 As the nectar flow picks up, our main goal is staying ahead of the bees.

Here’s what we’re looking for today to ensure the hive is thriving:
✅ Queen Check: Is she laying in a tight, consistent pattern? If a new Queen, is she laying?
✅ Room to Grow: Do they have enough drawn comb, or is it time to checkerboard? Do we need to add the next box?
✅ Mite Levels: Early monitoring now saves the colony later. We are replacing OAE pads on hives that are at the 50 day mark.

Spring is the busiest time in the bee yard, but seeing a healthy, expanding brood nest makes it all worth it. What’s the status of your hives this week? 🍯🌸

🌱 Vendor Spotlight: Regeneration Acres 🌱

We’re excited to welcome Regeneration Acres from Onalaska to our Bee Field Day & Pollination Fest!

This veteran-owned farm is focused on building a healthy, sustainable future through regenerative farming practices and responsible land stewardship. This year marks an exciting milestone for the farm as they added their very first honey bee colonies, taking another step toward supporting pollinators and increasing biodiversity on their property.

We’re thrilled to have them join us and share their journey as they continue to grow and develop their farm. Be sure to stop by their booth, say hello, and learn more about their work!

🐝 Join us June 20th from 10 AM – 2 PM for a fun day of pollinator education, local vendors, demonstrations, and community connections.

🐝 What a great day of learning at Woods Bee Co.!

Today, Alan and his Journeyman class spent time in the hives demonstrating techniques to help beekeepers strengthen, build, and grow their colonies. There’s nothing quite like hands-on learning and seeing hive management in action!

🎉 Surprise! We also held a drawing and gave away two NUCs to lucky attendees. Congratulations to our winners!

👑 We were also excited to welcome Sarah from Buzzing Hills Farm, who shared an introductory talk on queen rearing. Her presentation sparked a lot of interest, and we’re already working on plans for a dedicated Queen Rearing Workshop.

We’re currently trying to find a date that works with everyone’s busy schedules, so stay tuned for details. We’ll announce the workshop date as soon as it’s finalized!

Thank you to everyone who joined us today. We love seeing our beekeeping community come together to learn, share experiences, and support one another. 🐝💛
