We’re excited to be partnering with the City of Cedar Rapids on a transformative infrastructure project that will have a lasting impact on the community. The first phase of this project involves potholing several hundred water services making the documentation of data critical. Our team chose to leverage cutting-edge GIS technology, which allows us to track potholing investigations — turning field data into powerful insights that drive smarter planning, faster decision-making, and more precise design. These innovative tools are helping pave the way for the replacement of lead and galvanized service lines, supporting a safer, stronger, and more resilient water system for Cedar Rapids residents for generations to come. There are 8,500 lines excluded from the city’s records of water line materials. Workers are beginning a years-long project to identify lead lines in 11 of the city’s census tracts.

We’re growing our team at Anderson Bogert and are excited to introduce two talented civil engineers that have recently joined us!

Please join us in welcoming back Drew Digman and welcoming Lacy Michael to the team. Both bring extensive experience in private development and trail projects, along with a strong passion for serving communities across Iowa and beyond.

Drew returns to Anderson Bogert with 8 years of experience, including the past two years in Montana working on private site development, trail, and some industrial projects. A Cedar Rapids native and graduate of Iowa State University, we’re excited to have his knowledge and enthusiasm back on board.

Lacy brings a diverse background shaped by life on a Wyoming ranch, global travel, and 15 years of professional experience in the Cedar Rapids area. With a strong focus on private development and trail projects, Lacy adds a practical, solutions-oriented perspective that will be a tremendous asset to our clients and communities.

Anderson Bogert had the privilege of sponsoring the 2026 Cedar Rapids State of the City once again this year. Events like this are always a great opportunity to reflect on the growth and progress happening throughout our community and local business environment. Hearing about the accomplishments from the past year, as well as the vision planned for the future, reinforces why Cedar Rapids continues to be such a strong and thriving place to live, work, and do business.

From ongoing economic development and infrastructure improvements to investments in workforce growth, housing, and community partnerships, it’s encouraging to see the continued commitment to moving our city forward. Anderson Bogert is proud to be part of Cedar Rapids’ continued investment in long-term flood protection and community resilience through the Reach 4 flood mitigation project along the Cedar River. Last Friday’s groundbreaking ceremony marked another major milestone in the city’s ongoing Flood Control System improvements.

As program manager for the City of Cedar Rapids’ overall Flood Control System, Anderson Bogert has worked alongside the City, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and numerous project partners to help advance this effort. Reach 4 includes construction of a new floodwall, pump station, trail improvements, and critical infrastructure supporting the nearby industrial corridor.

In addition to our program management role, Anderson Bogert designed the recreational trail included in Reach 4, helping continue the City’s vision of combining flood protection with community amenities and riverfront connectivity. We are honored to support this investment and proud to help deliver infrastructure that not only protects residents and businesses but also enhances quality of life throughout the community.

Last Thursday Anderson Bogert employees got the opportunity to tour the Cedar Crossing Casino site process! The Cedar Crossing Casino in NW Cedar Rapids continues to make great progress on both the exterior site work and within the gaming facility itself. Ryan Companies and their subcontractors are in the process of completing the parking lots and sidewalks early this summer. The entire site was raised 4-6’ to be above the 100 year floodplain and involves a number of underground water detention facilities with permeable pavers at the surface which aid in both water quantity and water quality runoffs. The F Avenue and 3rd Street roundabout construction recently commenced and is scheduled to be ready for use later this fall. Landscaping has started with wayfinding signage to follow. This project involved significant coordination with multiple departments with the City of Cedar Rapids, various governmental jurisdictions, area utility companies and the surrounding public infrastructure projects. Anderson Bogert is a proud team partner for this site development scheduled to open in late 2026 which is anticipated to be a valued community and entertainment venue.

Anderson Bogert’s program management work for the proposed 8th Avenue Bridge — a signature cable-stayed structure in Cedar Rapids — recently included a design review visit with City staff at the TYLin offices in San Francisco, California. The meetings were long, but extremely valuable in helping ensure the bridge design aligns with the City of Cedar Rapids’ expectations and long-term vision.

Presentations from TYLin on stay cables, wind analysis, and structural redundancy provided important insight and helped guide the team toward the best solutions for this unique Cedar Rapids project. Discussions also covered project scheduling, bidding documents, and overall bridge aesthetics to round out the visit.

We appreciate the collaboration between City staff and the entire consultant team as we continue moving this project forward.

Last Monday, a few members of the Anderson Bogert team had the opportunity to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Mt. Vernon Road branch for Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust.

We’re proud to provide site design services with our partners at OPN Architects for this exciting project and to continue supporting the team through construction as this project moves forward. It’s always rewarding to see projects like this begin to take shape and contribute to the growth of our community.

Last week, Kacee Schmidt, Laurie Bergen, and Hailee Ricklefs had the opportunity to attend the 2026 Women Lead Change Conference here in Cedar Rapids! This two-day event brought together professionals from all backgrounds for leadership development, networking, and inspiring conversations.

It was a great experience getting to hear from incredible women and men at all different stages of their lives and careers. Speakers shared real stories about their journeys, the challenges they’ve faced, and the lessons they’ve learned along the way, getting them to where they are today.

Through keynote sessions, breakout discussions, and meaningful conversations, we gained valuable leadership skills that we can apply both in and out of the workplace.

We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity and everything we learned. We’re excited to take what we’ve gained and continue growing as leaders, both personally and professionally!
