Hammer strength low row
You wanna talk about an under appreciated workhorse? Hammer low row. Its easy to find, relatively affordable, and I would put it up against almost* any machine for total upper back development. This is one of the only pieces left in the gym that came from the previous iteration of our gym JB BOSS Gym …. And here it will stay until the sun rises in the West and sets in the East.

Absolute haul of a week
Rochester>indianapolis>Aliquippa, PA>Washington DC>Clarksville, VA, back to Indianapolis, back to Rochester
4 days, 40 hours of driving, 5000mg of caffeine, 4 tins of Velos, and one brutal leg cramp.
I am extremely grateful to get to meet some of the best mfs in the equipment game. Every time i learn so much. In this particular instance, i learned that the difference between a $10 dolly and a $110 dolly is night and day 🤣
Thanks again to my boys

Camstar leg extension
Since these posts seem to do well i will rehash the basic background on these chrome beasts.
Long story short, Camstar started getting a little too familiar with Nautilus designs in the 70s. This led to a lawsuit that Nautilus won and this line of equipment ceased production (Nautilus then started their chrome line🤣). Camstar was not fuxking around when they produced this line. They were not trying to do it cheaper. It seems they were trying to add their impression upon an already solid line of eauipment and flew a little too close to the sun. As far as i understand there was no had blood between the two equipment producers thereafter as well.
These machines are heavy. Everything on them is heavy. No tubing. Solid steel. The Cams alone on these weigh 60-80lbs. If you ever get a chance to try one, do so. Its really easy to tell they put their whole d&bs into these pieces. That level of care makes for pieces that stand the test of time

Nautilus chrome leverage leg extension
If this looks familiar, it should. This is the line of equipment that birthed Hammer strength; and it’s not hard to tell🤣. All the hardware and bearings are the exact same. Anybody who has talked to me knows i am not a huge fan of the unilateral hammer leg extension. The bilateral, however, ain’t bad; and this earlier chrome version is even better. This is a piece i can see myself training on regularly. Additionally, the chrome aesthetic has been really working on me this year

Alright, here is what i know about these pieces. Largely this info is passed around in the equipment community so take it with a grain of salt:
These pieces are early Camstar. They are way heavier and better built than they look (a shocking contrast from some of the later camstar pieces that are immensely light). Camstar was aping Nautilus in the early 80s, got sued over it, and eventually bought out by Nautilus; who then proceeded to launch their chrome line. Whether true or not it kind of tracks as a ton of the pieces in this line are clearly pulled straight from the gen 1 nautilus lineup, although i will give them credit as a few seem to have fairly unique designs.
If anyone can corroborate, make corrections, or add to this lore feel free!
