More progress has been made on the WD45 in for repair this week! The crankshaft checked out as junk at the local machine shop, and was bent 1/32"! Lucky the customer was able to supply a replacement crankshaft with 2 connecting rods. The replacement crankshaft checked out good at STD rod and main bearings and is ready to install.
While cleaning the engine block we discovered 2 camshaft oil holes were plugged or partially plugged with debris. That issue was remedied only to discover those 2 cam bushings were worn past spec from lack of oil. We will install replacement cam bushings before installing the crankshaft.
The fuel system was also cleaned and replaced. The tank was filled with sludge from sitting for 6 years with, what we think is Illinois bio diesel in it. The sludge in the sediment bowl was horrible and was also in the primary fuel filter. All 4 new filters, including the sediment bowl assy.

Our service dept is hard at work on this customers 6080 tractor. All the rechromed rods are back from the shop. We needed to rechrome the power steering cylinder rod, the external lift ram rod and the brake master cylinder pistons because they all had scoring and pitting that would cause premature failure of the new seals.
While the rods were getting refinished, we tackled a few other leaks and tried narrowing up the front axle to 30" rows like the customer requested. This front end is the most difficult one that we have ever tried to adjust. It took 2 guys, 2 broken bolts, 2 bottle jacks, 1 porta power and 8 heat cycles with the torch to free up the axle knees inside of the axle tube! And then we still had to adjust the tie rod!
Now we will install the brake parts back onto the tractor with new fluid and lines. We should be able to get a decent test drive after that to confirm the rest of the tractor is in solid shape before we dive into the electrical issues.
