Thomas Oilfield Services is proud to sponsor the Msundwe Lighthouse in Malawi, in partnership with You Turn Ministries, Inc.
The Lighthouse opened in January without a sponsor. Today it cares for 40 orphaned children, Monday through Friday, providing balanced daily meals, school uniforms, traditional education and daily Bible study and memory work. It’s run entirely by local Malawian staff and receives no government funding.
This is close to our hearts; we’ve been working closely with You Turn for years and have witness first-hand the conditions that our precious neighbors endure.
Malawi is home to over 1.4 million orphans. The average age in Malawi is 18.4 years old (for comparison, the average age in the U.S. is 39.4).
40% of the population of Malawi are children.
You Turn’s goal in Malawi is to raise Spiritual Giants without removing them from their home community. They are able to stay connected to their extended families and local church, taking what they learn of God’s infinite grace to the rest of Malawi.
The stability provided by Msundwe Lighthouse empowers these beautiful children with a future as well-rounded Christian leaders.
As You Turn’s Joe Veal puts it, these 40 kids are growing up together and coming to faith together.
It has been said that the biggest problem that Malawi faces is orphaned children. You Turn sees them as its biggest solution.
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.” — James 1:27
