The Sutter 500 out doing its job with the Nevada Offroad Association !! Great job team ! We look forward to more !
The Great American Expedition came along for a ride on the trails at the Shoshone OHV Trail System!
Nevada Offroad Association is wrapping up this stage of our rehabilitation project—and looking toward the potential expansion of the trail system—south of Battle Mountain in Lander County.
This work was made possible largely through support from the Right Rider Access Fund from the Motorcycle Industry Council helping us put resources directly on the ground to rehabilitate trails, improve access, and help keep Nevada’s public lands open for responsible motorized recreation.
The Shoshone OHV Trail System is a Bureau of Land Management public-use recreation area managed by the BLM Battle Mountain District, Mount Lewis Field Office.
We also want to thank the Bureau of Land Management - Nevada Office for its support and involvement in this project.
On the southern portion of the Shoshone Trail System, we’re also working with Nevada Gold Mines to identify opportunities to improve safety and the rider experience near Horse Mountain.
And because this is Nevada, we’re especially proud that the majority of the work was accomplished with a Sutter 500 Trail Dozer, manufactured by Sutter Equipment Company in Mound House, Nevada.
A big shout out to the Elko Motocross Club for their equipment support and for helping us get the work done on the ground.
This isn’t a once-and-done project. Our plan is to let this year’s work settle over the winter, see what we get for precipitation, and return in 2027 for a “tune-up” where needed as we continue maintaining the system and explore its potential expansion.
