Burnt food can leave a smell that just won’t quit.
Protein fires, when meat, eggs, dairy, or other food burns on the stove or in the oven, often leave very little visible soot. What they leave instead is a greasy, sticky film that can be nearly invisible while it coats walls, ceilings, cabinets, and appliances.
That film carries a strong, pungent odor that soaks into drywall, wood, and fabric, and it can travel through the air into nearby rooms and the HVAC system.
Wiping it down with household cleaners tends to smear the residue instead of lifting it, and air fresheners only cover the smell for a short time.
The fix starts with removing the residue, then neutralizing the odor itself. When the source is gone, the smell is too.
