Redcon Engineering is searching for an eager and hardworking CAD Designer to join our close-knit team in Carnegie, PA to help grow our engineering department.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Architectural CAD Designer with 0–3 years of professional experience. The ideal candidate shall have a strong background in pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB) and concrete foundation design.

In this role, you will work closely with project engineers to produce high-quality architectural elevations and technical drawing sets. While proficiency in AutoCAD is mandatory for this role, we are also looking for a candidate with working knowledge of Revit drafting to assist in our transition toward BIM workflows.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare detailed architectural drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and details
• Create accurate foundation plans, including reinforced concrete details, building anchor details and slab-on-grade systems
• Coordinate with structural engineers and project managers on project designs
Qualifications & Skills:
• Entry level to three years of practical experience in an architectural or structural engineering environment
• Solid understanding of concrete foundation design and reinforcement detailing
• Familiarity with general construction codes and zoning regulations is a plus
• Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple project deadlines simultaneously
• AutoCAD: Intermediate level is required. You must be comfortable with Xrefs, dynamic blocks, and layer management
• Revit: Intermediate level/Working knowledge is a plus
General Requirements:
• Office-based with occasional site visits and fieldwork
• Maintain organized file structures and ensure all drawings adhere to company CAD standards and local building codes

Salary:
$40,000 - $60,000/yr commensurate upon experience

Red Direct completed construction on a 178-foot retaining wall, which varied height to match the contour of the land. This stepped and curved wall was 17 feet at its highest point. The scope included excavation of 1,200 cubic yards of dirt, installing a 178’x4’x12” footer, French drain and utilized a geogrid system for backfilling. The geo grid system was compacted in 8-inch lifts of limestone. The job took approximately two weeks to complete.

We also worked in conjunction with our sister company, Redcon Engineering, to design the retaining wall. Adjustments were made to the original scope in order to accommodate a proposed building location on the construction site.

Hydro Review – Tribally owned Colorado farm installs enterprise-wide in-conduit hydropower system. Design done by Rentricity with Redcon Engineering’s support in electrical engineering design for the power distribution and hydro-turbine controls.

The installation consists of five similar in-conduit hydropower sites strategically positioned within the piped center-pivot irrigation system.

Redcon Engineering performed a retaining wall design in the City of Pittsburgh area.

The existing wall was demolished and replaced with a new 20’ retaining wall. The design criteria was based on the site topography, current design, and anticipated loads on the retaining wall. We prepared sealed and scaled retaining wall plan drawing and details.

We prepared and submitted the building permit to the City of Pittsburgh.

Redcon Engineering has completed a Civil Site Concept Plan in Neville Island, PA. The scope entailed preliminary engineering, conceptual site development services, and feasibility evaluation of a future building facility. The Client’s intent was to demolish the existing structure due to its condition and erect a new structure on the site. The parcel is zoned commercial, so the Client wanted to maximize the building footprint based on lot size and the Township’s permitted uses and ordinances. Redcon obtained and reviewed the municipal ordinances from the Township to determine the Floodplain Management, Grading and Excavating, Storm Sewer System, Stormwater Management, Subdivision and Land Development, Utilities – Public Water and Sanitary Sewage, Vehicle and Traffic, and Zoning ordinance requirements.
Two (2) conceptual site layouts were developed which incorporated site and grading layouts with specific information identified, including setback and parking requirements. The concepts included potential building layouts and orientations, as well as the parking requirements for these buildings.

Upon completion of the above referenced services, Redcon prepared additional detailed engineering services for physical survey (topography), site and land development, geotechnical subsurface investigation, utility coordination and design, permit coordination and approvals with the Township, architectural services, and building design.

If requested, we are also able to provide additional services including construction management and administration and construction from our sister company, Red Direct.
