Stetson provided well design and construction oversight of well drilling and completion for clients in Arizona, last week. The water supply well has a 20-inch borehole with a depth of over 1,040 feet to provide drinking water to the local community.

This still is from a live stream telemetry set up in Winter 2019-2020 to track an environmental mitigation project. Stetson Engineers has set up and maintained several of these remote camera systems, which operate entirely disconnected from grid power or wired internet. The system pushes image data to a Stetson server for archiving and remote work.

Stetson worked with the City of Glendora to replace the City’s existing deteriorated underground concrete reservoir.

Stetson prepared design drawings and specifications for the construction of a new 660,000 gallon welded steel water tank (see pictures) to replace the existing reservoir. The existing reservoir was partially demolished and abandoned in place, then a 40-foot tall engineered fill was built over the abandoned reservoir to become the foundation for the new welded steel tank. Stetson conducted inspections and provided engineering support throughout the construction of the new reservoir. Construction was completed and the new reservoir put into service in December 2018.

Stetson Engineers provides dam owners with inundation mapping and Emergency Action Plan (EAP) preparation services.

Inundation maps are key for emergency response and planning in multiple scenarios, including dam failure or critical operational releases during flood conditions. They are required by law in California, and must be consistent with FEMA P-946 Federal Guidelines. Inundation maps, showing projected flooded areas and wave travel times for wave front and flood peaks, are developed by Stetson’s team of GIS professionals and hydraulic modelers using state-of-the-art technology.

Orange County, California - Sand Canyon Dam.

Division of Safety of Dams (DSOD) recently approved another inundation map and technical study developed by Engineers. With several additional maps pending DSOD approval and under contract, we are one of the leading firms for developing inundation maps and preparing Emergency Action Plans (EAP) for regulatory approval.

Stetson Engineers is proud of its local work in Marin County, California. For a project at Jewell Creek, Stetson prepared the fish passage analysis, sizing calculations, and construction plans and documents to replace a failed corrugated metal pipe at the creek. Stetson also provided engineering oversight during construction, which was successfully completed in November 2016.

The multi-purpose project involved replacement of the pipe culvert to allow fish passage for coho and steelhead trout, stabilization of Marin Municipal Water District's transmission line, and repair of the section of the Cross-Marin Trail that had collapsed due to the failing culvert.

More on the Engineering and Construction Management Services that Stetson Engineers provided to North Coast County Water District (Pacifica, California) during design and construction of the District’s 3.75 million gallon Steve Hyden Memorial Water Tank:
Stetson reviewed and provided input on the design calculations and engineering drawings for the water tank as they were being developed, and evaluated and responded to all requests for information and submittals provided by the Contractor during construction. Stetson was on site to assist the District with documenting and managing the tank construction work for more than a year. Stetson’s services to the District were acknowledged during the 2017 ribbon cutting ceremony and given special recognition on a dedication plaque that now exists on the tank site.
