They give utility providers the space they need to install, maintain, inspect, and repair critical systems like water, sewer, gas, electric, and communications.

Fall is one of the best times to see just how quickly conditions can change in Colorado’s mountain communities.

The colors may get all the attention, but engineers are also thinking about freeze-thaw cycles, drainage, winter access, and the spring runoff that comes months later.

Good infrastructure has to work through all of it.

Civil engineering for the Aspen Ambulance Facility meant solving a lot of what most people will never see.

Our work included extending the sewer main, relocating fiber, gas, and electric utilities, studying drainage, and completing hydraulic calculations to confirm the existing hospital infrastructure could support the new facility and parking expansion.

A good example of how much coordination has to happen behind the scenes before a project like this can move forward.

Happy 2 years at RFE to Sarah Koerner!

As our Controller and Office Manager, Sarah keeps things organized, processes running smoothly, and somehow still has room for a perfectly organized spreadsheet or two.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find her running, reading, watching something spooky, or helping care for one of the many animals passing through her home on the way to their forever family.

One of the best parts of working in Western Colorado is that the places we work and the places we spend our time outside the office are often one and the same.

For our team, the river isn’t just part of the landscape we engineer around. It’s also where weekends, after-work plans, and a lot of good memories happen.

That connection to the places we serve is a big part of life at RFE.
