Meet the Family

We wanted to take a moment to introduce ourselves as we begin this exciting new adventure with Erlbacher Gear and Machine Works!

My name is Mark Hagedorn, and I was born and raised right here in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. I attended engineering school at Missouri S&T in Rolla and moved to Iowa in 2017 after accepting my first engineering position. It was there that I met my wife, Rachel.

Rachel was an Early Childhood Special Education teacher for 10 years and now has the very important job of staying home with our three children. We were married in 2020 and then welcomed our daughter Isla, and two sons Cale and Lane.

After welcoming our third child, we knew it was time to make a big change. We wanted to be closer to family and pursue a dream of owning our own business and forging our own path. In May 2025, we made the move back home to Cape Girardeau, and we couldn’t be happier to be here.

A little about our crew:

Isla (5) is started kindergarten and is already excited to begin her knitting journey. She is patiently waiting for her very own pink knitting machine!

Cale (3) started preschool this year and is obsessed with anything that has wheels. Tractors, trucks, trailers—you name it, he’s interested!

Lane (1) is happiest when he’s outside and keeping up with his big brother and sister.

We are incredibly grateful to Greyson and everyone at Erlbacher for trusting us with this business and giving our family the opportunity to become part of something so special. We are excited to learn, grow, and get to know all of you while becoming part of the wonderful knitting community.

Thank you for welcoming our family into the Erlbacher family. We can’t wait to see what this next chapter brings!
