Holtec International is proud to support the Green River Advanced Nuclear Project in Utah as part of the state’s Operation Gigawatt initiative. Using Holtec’s innovative SMR-300 Small Modular Reactor technology, the project aims to deliver reliable, carbon-free energy while supporting economic growth, job creation, and long-term energy security across the Mountain West.

Designed for arid regions, the SMR-300 features an optional Air-Cooled Condenser system that allows efficient operation with limited water resources, making it an ideal fit for Utah’s environment. The project also strengthens Utah’s growing nuclear ecosystem and advances Holtec’s broader clean energy expansion strategy.

Holtec International and the Rwanda Atomic Energy Board (RAEB) have signed a Development Agreement to advance the deployment of Holtec’s SMR-300 reactors in Rwanda, marking a major milestone in the country’s vision to become a leader in advanced nuclear energy in Africa. Signed during the Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit for Africa (NEISA), the agreement supports Rwanda’s strategy to deliver reliable, carbon-free baseload power and drive long-term economic growth.

The collaboration could support up to approximately 5 GW of clean energy capacity using Holtec’s SMR-300 technology — a proven, “walk-away safe” advanced reactor designed for reliability, resiliency, and flexible deployment. The initiative also highlights growing U.S.–Rwanda cooperation in civil nuclear energy and reinforces Holtec’s commitment to expanding advanced nuclear solutions globally.

Holtec International is proud to be participating in the Nuclear Energy Institute Used Fuel Management Conference in Savannah, GA this week.

Our team is enjoying connecting with industry leaders at our exhibit booth and contributing to important conversations shaping the future of used fuel management.

On day one, we brought energy to the Nuclear Reactions Game Show, where Evrim Kalfazade and Jack Manogue took the stage representing Holtec.

On day two, we continued that momentum with Michael Beal, Philip Bartholomew, and Matthew Block sharing their expertise in Aging Management, Advanced Reactor Fuel, and Operating Experience (OPEX).

Together, these contributions reflect Holtec’s continued commitment to innovation, safety, and long-term solutions for used nuclear fuel.

With one more day to go, we look forward to continuing the conversation and connecting with more industry peers.

The 2026 Holtec SMR-300 Technical Advisory Council meeting brought together more than 140 global industry leaders across 22 countries—underscoring the growing momentum behind advanced nuclear and the deployment of first-of-a-kind SMR-300 units at the Palisades site in Michigan.

With Pioneer 1 & 2 set to deliver 680 MW of clean, reliable baseload power, the discussions reinforced both the technical strength and global confidence in this next generation of nuclear innovation.

The Council also recognized significant milestones, including strong licensing progress, continued engagement with the NRC, advancing manufacturing readiness across multiple U.S. facilities, and support from the U.S. Department of Energy.

This year’s meeting was also marked by the heartfelt remembrance of Chris Bakken III, a valued Advisory Board member whose wisdom, leadership, and friendship left a lasting impact on all who knew him. We are honored to share a memorial video celebrating his life and legacy.

We salute the Енергоатом team as today they announced a major milestone in Ukraine’s energy independence journey!

The successful installation of the 50th spent nuclear fuel container at the Centralized Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility (CSFSF) marks a significant achievement for the country’s energy security.

Holtec is proud to have supported the final facility commissioning process last week, contributing to this important phase in the facility’s ongoing operations.

Over the past three years, 50 MPCs have been safely placed into storage using Holtec’s HI-STAR 190 transport cask, reinforcing a long-term, secure solution for spent fuel management.

This achievement not only strengthens Ukraine’s energy security but is also delivering significant economic impact, saving an estimated $200 million annually by eliminating the need to export spent fuel.

We look forward to continuing our support of Energoatom in the long-term management of its nuclear fuel cycle.
