🔧 Sprayer Talk Tuesday: Understanding NPT Pipe Threads

Think you know what size fitting you need? You might want to measure again!

This week on Sprayer Talk Tuesday, we're breaking down NPT (National Pipe Taper) threads and one of the most common mistakes we see when customers order replacement fittings.

The outside diameter (OD) of a pipe thread is NOT the same as its nominal pipe size!

For example, a 1" NPT male fitting actually measures approximately 1.315" across the outside of the threads. This can cause confusion when trying to identify the correct replacement fitting.

In this week's video, we explain how NPT sizing works, why the measurements don't match the listed sizes, and what to look for when ordering replacement parts.

Overnight lows are getting closer to freezing here in the Northeast—time to think about protecting your sprayer! ❄️

Putting your equipment away for the year? Run RV antifreeze through the pump until you see it returning to the tank. Protect the hose and reel by running RV antifreeze through the hose or using compressed air to blow it out.

Still spraying this season? Before a freezing night, run RV antifreeze through the pump or park your sprayer indoors where temperatures stay above freezing.

A little preparation now can help prevent freeze damage and costly downtime next spring.

🎯 Sprayer Talk Tuesday: Calibrating Boomless Nozzles

This week on Sprayer Talk Tuesday, we're talking about how to calibrate a boomless nozzle.

The manufacturer's nozzle chart is a great starting point, but it doesn't mean you're locked into one setting. By adjusting factors such as spray distance, vehicle speed, and gallons per minute (GPM), applicators can fine-tune their setup to achieve the GPA (gallons per acre) they're looking for.

In this video, we walk through how these different factors work together and what you can adjust to get your boomless nozzle dialed in for your application.

This week on Sprayer Talk Tuesday, we're taking a closer look at the Super Swivel found on the inlet side of Hannay hose reels.

So, what exactly does it do?

The Super Swivel provides the rotating connection that allows your hose reel to turn while maintaining a connection to the sprayer's plumbing. It allows product to flow into the reel while the reel rotates during hose payout and rewind.

👋 Meet the Team: Sam

Sam has been part of the Gregson-Clark team for nearly seven years. He started in our warehouse, shipping and packaging orders, before moving into our steel shop. Today, Sam is a talented welder who helps fabricate many of the durable sprayer frames our customers depend on every day.

Before joining Gregson-Clark, Sam worked as a tire technician. Outside of work, he enjoys hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors, and riding dirt bikes.

What does Sam enjoy most about working at Gregson-Clark? He appreciates being part of a family-owned company where hard work is recognized. He also enjoys diving in, getting his hands dirty, and helping build the quality equipment our customers rely on to support and grow their businesses.
