Yes, we are concern about how the new tariffs put into place this month will affect our parts pricing. It seems as though the tariffs will add 25% to any imported part coming into the US.
We do try to get the best quality products for our customers while getting the best price with some aftermarket gears, as well as OE (original equipment) gears.
Well, we are safe with PAI, Inc HP gears for the Mack truck, because they are made right here in the South. Go, Mack! Also, with US Gear, a very old company in the USA that produces aftermarket gears for light duty vehicles and high-performance cars. A lot of OE parts for Eaton transmissions and differentials are made in the US but over the last ten years we have seen China, Italy and Mexico stamped on some parts for both their transmissions and differentials. Many of the bearings and seals companies have gone to China. It is rumored that China will not let these companies have their own equipment for making these products back.
But in saying this, parts made in the US have always been higher, we have more regulations in place for our manufactures, and salaries are higher than for employees of companies overseas. So, this tariff will level out the pricing helping the US companies compete with the imports. Of course, we want to buy American, it is a good thing.
I don’t know about you but I was really mad when the Ralph Lauren Company made the Olympic uniforms for the USA teams in China. He made his money from Americans, not the Chinese, those uniforms should have been made here.
The hope is that this will mean more products being made here, which will mean more factories here and more jobs. So, our country men will be put back to work, it is a good thing. Sometimes you have to go out on a limb to make a change. Go USA!

It is that time of year again….Kids are going back to school. If you have teens driving to school this is a good time to go over their car with a good check list.
I like to do this with my son so that he can become familiar with the overall operation of his vehicle, and hopefully my daughters would appreciate it when they start driving.
1. Check the windshield wipers, replace if brittle, cracked or streaking. Fill up the wiper fluid reservoir.
2. Check the oil level, it should be between the add & full lines. Change the oil if it smells of gasoline or is dirty.
3. Check the transmission fluid. Remember having the fluid replaced is a lot cheaper than a transmission.
4. Check the radiator coolant overflow tank to make sure the fluid is to the full line. If needed add a 50/50 mixture of coolant and water.
5. Check the battery. If there are powdery deposits on either of the terminals clean them with a baking soda/water mixture and a stiff brush, after cleaning rinse with water. Dry completely and coat the terminals with petroleum jelly.
6. Check the belts for adjustments. If any of the belts are cracked, frayed, or shiny on the inside it is time for a new belt.
7. Check the tires. Properly inflated tires will help improve your gas mileage and help your tires last longer. If the tires are worn; get them replaced!
8. Hoses – look and feel of each hose. They need to be replaced if there is cracking, bulging, or very soft areas on the hose.
9. Brake fluid. Check the owner’s manual.

I also like to drive their car around the block to check the brakes, steering and handling, check for odors that might signal that there’s a leak and listen for anything unusual. In addition check the driveway or their parking spots for any fluid leaks. It’s important to talk these things over with your kids so they can explain to you if they suspect a problem.
And as always……Ezell Motorsports is ready to answer any questions you have just email, call or stop by the website. Until next week, Jason
