In 1988, we started building deaerator systems in the parking lot of our West Babylon, NY shop because the units were simply too tall for our space! We were even borrowing a neighbor's crane to get the deaerators on their stands. That’s Tom Garbarino in the tan pants, pictured just a year after joining the family business!

Fast forward to today: we’re celebrating 80 years of BFS Industries from our high-clearance facility in Butner, NC. We’ve grown significantly since the Long Island days, but that "find a way to make it work" spirit remains exactly the same.

• The Legend: Career and business lessons from NASCAR’s Rusty Wallace.
