Designed for a leading specialty chemical producer, this system is built to feed 11,000 #/hr of deaerated water directly to the steam boiler. But standard specs wouldn't cut it for this job: the entire unit is designed to be explosion-proof for installation in a hazardous environment.

Our 80th-anniversary celebration continues with a look back at where it all began!

In 1946, John Garbarino founded Boiler Feed Systems, Inc., starting as a one-customer operation in a tiny Brooklyn shop. Soon after, his son Bob joined him and engineered a nationwide representative network. By 1969, the Brooklyn shop was bursting at the seams, prompting a move to West Babylon, NY, to allow for continued growth.

In West Babylon, our product lines expanded and our deaerator systems became our top seller. With so much growth under our belts, we officially changed our name to BFS Industries in the 1980s. In 1991, we packed up the rigs and headed to our current home in Butner, NC, for the headroom we needed to keep scaling!

Employee Spotlight: Meet Jay!

At BFS Industries, our strength lies in our team. Today, we’re proud to spotlight Jay, a vital part of our Critical Fuel Systems division who has been bringing his expertise to the company since 2015.

As a Sales Engineer, Jay’s role is as dynamic as it is essential. On any given day, he can be found quoting complex fuel oil projects, managing critical timelines, designing systems, or putting his problem-solving skills to the test troubleshooting mechanical issues. He is a key resource for ensuring our custom fuel oil systems are precise, reliable, and built to last.

Jay’s approach to his decade-long career at BFS reflects the best piece of professional advice he’s received: "Find a job you love, and you'll never work a day in your life."

Beyond the technical blueprints and project management, some of Jay’s favorite memories with the company revolve around the legendary, annual Pig Pickins over the years, moments to slow down, enjoy great food, and celebrate the strong community that defines BFS.
