A great playground should make more kids feel like they can jump right in. 💙

At Sierra Heights Elementary School, that means climbing and sliding on the BeachComber, spinning with friends on the accessible We-Go-Round, and discovering new sounds and visuals through the Rain Sound Wheel and Kaleidospin Panels.

There’s even a Symbol Communication Sign to help children connect and communicate in ways that work for them.

These thoughtful features create more ways for kids to participate, explore, and feel part of the fun. 🛝

At Maywood Hills Elementary School, students can climb, move, make music, and find all kinds of ways to play. 🛝

The We-Go-Round gives children of all abilities a chance to spin together, while the Crab Trap lets them climb over, through, and across the structure in all kinds of ways.

Nearby, Rhapsody Chimes and Drums bring music into the mix, with different sounds to try and plenty of opportunities to make some noise. 🎶

From one end of the playground to the other, there’s always something new to discover.

Hidden Valley Playground is the bee's knees! This beehive-themed play space isn’t just fun to look at, it also supports inclusive, accessible play with features including:
• More than 20 accessible features at ground level
• 15 play elements reachable by ramp
• 12 raised components designed with transfer platforms
• A communication board to support communication for everyone

Features like that is Bellevue Parks & Community Services facilities help children build motor skills, practice social play and explore safely, all while learning through movement and imagination.

A look back at an afternoon of hands-on learning and inclusive play at Hidden Valley Park in Bellevue, WA! 🛝

Thank you to everyone who joined us last month to see how playground design can go beyond access and create a true sense of belonging. A special thank you to the City of Bellevue for partnering with us and to Jill Moore of Landscape Structures for sharing her expertise and leading the conversation.

This summer, volunteers came together at St. Francis of Assisi School to help bring its new playground to life! 🛝

From assembling equipment to working side by side, every helping hand contributed to a play space students will get to enjoy when they return to school.

On Wednesday, we’ll be at Hidden Valley Park Playground for an Inclusive Play Seminar!

This hands-on session with Jill Moore, Inclusive Play Specialist from Landscape Structures Inc., will walk through the inclusive aspects of the playground equipment and show how thoughtful design choices can support access, participation, and meaningful play experiences.

Food and drinks will be provided, and attendees can earn .1 CEUs, 1 LUs and 1 PDHs, which meet Health, Safety, and Welfare credits.
