One of our favorite things about Bitter Lake Playfield is how much there is for different ages to explore! 🌳

Up in the Tree Tops structure, kids can climb through the canopy, cross wiggly bridges, and crawl through tunnels. They can make their way between levels before taking a slide back down.

Closer to the ground, younger kids have a garden-inspired space of their own, with easier climbing and colorful panels to explore and interact with.

At Springwood Park, kids can start with smaller challenges and take on bigger climbs when they’re ready.

For younger kids, the shifting Boppity Bridge and Wee Planet Climbers give them a chance to work on balance and coordination. They can try things out and get more comfortable as they go.

The Crab Trap gives kids a bigger climb to figure out. Kids can work their way through the open netting, choose how they want to move across, and finish with a ride down the Alpine Slide.

One of the fun parts of Lawrence Scott Park is watching kids realize they can do a little more than they thought. 🛝

This playground gives them different ways to work through a challenge, find their footing, and decide when they’re ready to keep going. As they get more comfortable, there’s always another part of the playground waiting for them to try.

There’s a separate nature-inspired space for younger kids too, so they can explore in a space that feels a little more their speed! 🌿

Children’s House of Learning gives little ones a playground made for exploring!

The Smart Play Sprig brings climbing, balancing, and a little adventure down to their level. A custom Salmon Structure and Log Cabin Sensory area bring Native American-inspired details and nature-based elements into the playground, with interactive panels adding opportunities for music and imaginative play. 🐟🪵

There’s a lot for little ones to discover here, with new challenges to take on as they grow. 🌱

Karshner Elementary School brings a wide range of activity into one engaging playground! 🛝

The Venti gives kids 20 different ways to play, with features to climb, slide, and explore. They can also spin with friends on the ReviWheel or hop on the two-way ZipKrooz.

Playground Grass makes the space easier to navigate for students of all abilities, while bilingual signage in English and Spanish adds another welcoming touch for the school community. 🤝

Together, these features give more students the opportunity to join in and enjoy the space!

A great playground should make more kids feel like they can jump right in. 💙

At Sierra Heights Elementary School, that means climbing and sliding on the BeachComber, spinning with friends on the accessible We-Go-Round, and discovering new sounds and visuals through the Rain Sound Wheel and Kaleidospin Panels.

There’s even a Symbol Communication Sign to help children connect and communicate in ways that work for them.

These thoughtful features create more ways for kids to participate, explore, and feel part of the fun. 🛝

At Maywood Hills Elementary School, students can climb, move, make music, and find all kinds of ways to play. 🛝

The We-Go-Round gives children of all abilities a chance to spin together, while the Crab Trap lets them climb over, through, and across the structure in all kinds of ways.

Nearby, Rhapsody Chimes and Drums bring music into the mix, with different sounds to try and plenty of opportunities to make some noise. 🎶

From one end of the playground to the other, there’s always something new to discover.

Hidden Valley Playground is the bee's knees! This beehive-themed play space isn’t just fun to look at, it also supports inclusive, accessible play with features including:
• More than 20 accessible features at ground level
• 15 play elements reachable by ramp
• 12 raised components designed with transfer platforms
• A communication board to support communication for everyone

Features like that is Bellevue Parks & Community Services facilities help children build motor skills, practice social play and explore safely, all while learning through movement and imagination.

A look back at an afternoon of hands-on learning and inclusive play at Hidden Valley Park in Bellevue, WA! 🛝

Thank you to everyone who joined us last month to see how playground design can go beyond access and create a true sense of belonging. A special thank you to the City of Bellevue for partnering with us and to Jill Moore of Landscape Structures for sharing her expertise and leading the conversation.

We’re grateful to everyone who came out and explored what inclusive play can look like in action!

This summer, volunteers came together at St. Francis of Assisi School to help bring its new playground to life! 🛝

From assembling equipment to working side by side, every helping hand contributed to a play space students will get to enjoy when they return to school.

Thank you to everyone who gave their time and effort to this community build!
