Hey Y'all, this may be a longer read, but wanted to update some information on why I haven't posted much lately
So February 12th this year I had a total knee replacement surgery, recovery and Physical therapy was to be honest, pretty intense, and depending on the individual, recovery times all very... I was told some normal activities around week 8 to 12 weeks post surgery, and up to a full year for complete recovery.
I am just coming up to week # 12 and doing fairly well, Praise God!
I am determined to get the most flexibility back into my new knee, it's been up and down, arthritis pain is gone, and knee feels great, it's just other pains, with the flexibility and scar tissue I must work at in getting the stretches and exercises to overcome!
With that being said, I have done a few service calls on the burning and welding side of my normal posts... unfortunately, I just didn't think to take "After" pictures on one, and "before" pictures on others!
I do have "some" pictures, these job's were mostly trying to help people out in a Bind, and wanting to be a blessing to them, while trying to get this new knee acclimated to my line of work
First pictures back on April 8th,"and only" are from a Gualded seized Pin on a Bulldozer cylinder eye, the customer needed this Dozzer back in service, the cylinder blew it's seal, and needed replacement or rebuilt, Pin was approximately 1 5/8" in diameter, and 7" long going through lug mounts and Cylinder eye... took a lot of Heat, and sledge hammering 🔨 but we got it out! Glad his younger son was there to swing that sledge while I held a very large backing out punch!
Second Job April 26th, was a farmers 300 gallon spraying machine, the wheel spindle wore out, a friend had called me to help, he had already fabricated a new spindle and hub assembly, I was needed to be mobile with my burning rig and welder to do the repairs out in a field. I burnt old spindle off, and welded on the new piece made.
Yesterday, May 4th, I repaired my father in law's trailer gate.. 1/8" factory angel iron actually broke out, I managed to save the existing expanded metal, cut out broken angel, welded in new piece, and the expanded metal, took pictures this morning of the small repairs, and hit with primer
I'm so sorry for this long detail of a post... most wil probably not even read this... but trying to catch up!!!

No repair too small!
Repaired a broken swing arm on a recliner, simple weld repair, tough area to clean off paint and use grinder to grove out the break for a good weld repair, hardest and longest time consuming part was stuffing recliner with welding blankets, leather and flame retarding material so sparks wouldn't cause a fire 😀 🤣 Repaired outside of course

A company that makes specialty block retaining wall systems, Fifteen Springs Hardscape Products, came to me with a prototype shelving rack to fabricate so they can display a locking block they make for display in a few of their stores.
Working with the representative, we agreed on a couple changes to the design.
Each tier of shelving will hold 200 lbs of block to be displayed
The company will be painting them in the company's color.
I have made and delivered 2 out of the 4 units asked to fabricate.

Excavator thumb shaft (pin) repair
"Normally" I would tell the customer it may be in the best interest to get a new pin, or one made , but the customer was in need , so I agreed to help this gentleman
Pin was snapped, and also had a bend near the break
My process of repair was slow due to "hardened" tool steel, I chucked into a pipe vise laying it in angle Iron, gouging out the break and near the bent area, filling with specialty welding rod for this type material, peaning out each weld pass for stress relief, making sure shaft (pin) did not exceed too high of temperature, stopping frequently, flipping shaft, back gouging into good weld, tacking shaft to angle iron as well to keep from warping , did use a slow cooling method on this repair
Finished repair is a solid 100% weld
I ground high welds, and used flap disk to polish.
I did burn up my makita die grinder on this job, but I've used it heavily since 1997 or so. It paid for itself!
Pictures from start through finish, thanks for looking!,

I was given a single spear hay spear mast for John Deere tractor
It was very bent in different areas, the square tubing and flat strap supports were broken out of factory welds. Definitely overloaded with a large hay ball.
Customer wanted repaired so it could be put back into service
I had to cut out the existing weld on the pipe sleeve where spear goes through, split some frame structure to bend back as close as possible
I cut out original square tubing, and added a little bit of thicker wall tube, added in some plating, and stich welded back plates. It's not perfect, but should get him back in the fields loading hay
I did primer, then used an apple green for base.. I'll need to run and get some paint to match, I'll try and and post finished product later
Thanks for looking!
As promised, found the correct color match
