TITLE OF POSITION: Auto Pour Technician CLASSIFICATION: Auto Pour Technician
BASIC PURPOSE: Under the supervision of the Molding Supervisor, performs tasks which include the pouring of molten iron into sand molds, and preparation of molds on the pouring deck, per written and verbal process direction in a safe, efficient, and quality manner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. An iron pourer or transfer employee acquires the specific process card for the job being performed and follows all written and verbal directions.
2. During work shift, performs duties, such as, acquiring, controlling and verifying iron temperatures, recording temperature information, programming auto pour, slag ladles, change stopper rods, calculate pouring weights, pour iron into prepared molds.
3. Performs microstructure examinations when requested by the Quality Assurance Supervisors or Quality Assurance Manager.
4. Within duties and tasks, produces copies, files all lab data, maintains positive, and team orientated atmosphere with management,
supervision, and hourly personnel.
5. Prepares test coupons (i.e., test bars, coins and pins) for independent laboratory evaluation.
6. All part numbers, and work information is recorded onto a daily timesheet, QD-8-06 A received from the department supervisor. All pouring
temperatures, and shakeout times are recorded also.
7. Work areas, and equipment must be kept in clean, working condition to ensure quality, and safety at all times.
8. Inform supervisor of any operational and/or quality problems during operation. Effectively communicate on the radio.
9. On days with ductile iron production or when required, performs duties of a Deck Technician.
10. Obtains iron samples for the nodularity evaluation (every ladle) and chemical testing (when necessary).
11. Obtains test bars as required by Work Instructions.
12. Follows work instructions regarding pouring ductile iron.
