DC Water continues essential rehabilitation work on a key section of the Potomac Interceptor along Clara Barton Parkway—one of the region’s largest and most critical wastewater systems.
This time-lapse captures the sliplining process, where a new 72-in. pipe is installed inside an existing 78-in. pipeline originally placed into service in 1963. This upgrade strengthens a vital corridor that moves wastewater from the Dulles area to the Blue Plains facility, helping ensure reliable flow, system integrity, and long-term capacity for the region.
Projects like this highlight the importance of maintaining and upgrading infrastructure that millions of residents, businesses, and visitors depend on every day!
