Family has long been part of Akkerman’s story, with generations of families contributing to the company’s success. In fact, according to Mrs. Akkerman, only one father-daughter duo has previously worked together at Akkerman: Doug and Hilary Luinstra.

This summer, that unique tradition continued as Addison Augustin joined the Akkerman team as an Administrative Assistant, joining her father, Jason Augustin, who has been an important part of the Akkerman team for many years as Facilities Maintenance and Safety Manager.

We’re excited to welcome Addison and celebrate this new chapter in Akkerman’s family legacy!

For the Des Moines WRA Ingersoll Run Outlet Sewer Segment 1 project in Des Moines, IA, Minger Construction, Inc. completed three 60-LF., 42-in. Hobas™ FRP jacking pipe crossings beneath an existing box culvert.

Using an Akkerman 4800 GBM System, P250D Power Pack, and PCH 44, crews utilized guided pilot tube microtunneling to maintain precise 0% grade alignment through wet clay conditions with only 7-in. of horizontal clearance between each pipe.

The result? Three successful crossings completed in just two weeks, minimizing disruption to existing infrastructure.
