It isn't Festool Fest unless we have snacks. And today - Festool Fest Day One we had snacks. Tomorrow at Festool Fest Day Two we will have more snacks.

Festool has just launched a new wave of cordless tools and we have them all for your examination. This includes the new cordless version of the iconic Domino joiner, new nimble trim routers, and some super-efficient batteries to power them. The tools are being launched next month.

Even if you have no interest in Festool we will have one of our Saturday open days tomorrow 12-3 and you can peruse all our tools.

If you're in the NYC area, come visit tomorrow our Brooklyn showroom Saturday, May 30th, 12 noon - 3 PM.

Three planes. One tool.

The Clifton 3-in-1 Shoulder Rebate Plane No. 3110 is one of those tools that makes you appreciate just how clever toolmakers can be. Based on a classic Preston design from around 1900, this English-made plane transforms between three configurations:

🔹 Shoulder plane — for trimming tenon cheeks and cleaning up joints with precision
🔹 Bullnose plane — swap on the included bullnose attachment for working into tight corners
🔹 Chisel plane — remove the front entirely and you've got a chisel plane for flush trimming

The 6" sole with a 1-1/16" blade delivers serious control. The mouth comes set fine from the factory, and Clifton includes shims so you can open it up for more aggressive cuts when needed.

Pro Tip: You will find this plane and other shoulder planes easier to use if you grab them by the middle and pull them towards you. You hand rests naturally right over the blade for max control.

Most woodworkers reach for this as a shoulder plane and then discover — sometimes mid-project — that the bullnose and chisel configurations save you from reaching for entirely different tools. That's not just convenience. That's smart workshop design.

Before modern vises existed, every serious workbench was full of holes — and holdfasts kept the work locked down. Joseph Moxon devoted half a page to them in 1678. By the 1800s, they'd all but disappeared.

We brought them back. The Gramercy Tools Holdfast is our own patented design — cold-formed steel, work-hardened for spring, low profile so it stays out of your way. One tap to clamp, one tap to release. Fits any 3/4" hole in a bench 1-3/4" or thicker (to about 4" for thicker benches see the website for suggestions).

Popular Woodworking gave them 5/5 stars. Frank Klausz called them the holdfast that finally works at a reasonable price. We recommend buying a pair — it'll transform your workholding instantly.

A sharp scraper is one of woodworking's secret weapons — tissue-thin shavings, no sandpaper dust, no tearout. The Accu-Burr burnisher makes that magic repeatable every single time.

If you've ever struggled to get a consistent burr on a card scraper, this tool will change your life.

The Accu-Burr™ Carbide Burnisher is the first new idea in burnishers in decades and is the only burnisher you'll ever need on your bench.

Here's what makes it brilliant: three precision-ground V-shaped grooves turn a fine (5°), medium (10°), or coarse (15°) burr simultaneously on BOTH sides of your scraper edge in a single pass. No guesswork. No deflection on thin card scrapers. It even works on HSS steel blades up to Rc 65.

We stock two versions — the brass-handled "Junior" ($69.99) for maximum leverage, and the unhandled rod ($39.95) for those who want to turn their own handles. Because of course you do.

🌿🍞🛠️ Wandering through the flavors of New York City! 🏙️ From indulging in Mamoun's legendary falafel 🥙, exploring the vibrant history of "Little Syria" 🌟, to discovering the mouth-watering lamb sausage at Pino Prime Meats 🍖—every stop is a journey into the heart of craftsmanship. Each bite at Vesuvio Bakery 🥖 and every pasta from Raffetto's 🍝 brings a tale of tradition and passion, much like the art of woodworking itself.

Just as each handcrafted piece of furniture has its own story, so do these culinary gems ✨. It's all about the joy of craft—whether it's a perfectly stuffed olive bread or a meticulously designed chair.

Taking this delightful tour with my son was a reminder of why I love woodworking; it's the dedication to creating something meaningful that resonates with people. Craft is not just a skill, it's a lifestyle. 🍽️❤️

What if your handsaw was also a ruler, a square, a protractor, and a conversion table — all in one?

The BT&C Hardware Store Saw is what happens when toolmakers in Brooklyn decide to build the platonic ideal of a do-everything saw. The blade is 1095 spring steel, tempered for resilience and sharpness. The teeth are filed to a middle ground between rip and crosscut with raker teeth for clearing sawdust — so it cuts beautifully in any direction, in hardwood or softwood.

But here's where it gets wild. Acid-etched into the blade you'll find imperial and metric rulers along the spine, a full fraction-to-decimal-to-mm conversion table in 1/64" steps, and a diagonal scale for setting dividers down to 0.01" or 0.1mm. The handle? Precision diamond-lapped to a dead-on 90° so you can scribe a perfect square line. Sighting holes give you 15°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75°, plus 6:1 and 8:1 dovetail ratios.

Hickory handle. Gramercy carbon steel split nuts. Delivered sharp. Made entirely in the USA. Store Link in Bio.

Spring projects are calling — and this saw answers everything. 🪚✨

Stepping back in time at the Poster House Museum! 🎨🖌️ This weekend, I explored the fascinating exhibit "Act Black: Posters from Black American Stage & Screen." While the vibrant movie posters caught my eye, woodworkers will also be interested in the basswood woodblocks used for traveling shows. These blocks, dating back to 1925, showcase the artistry and skill of professional carvers. Basswood's ease of carving made it perfect for creating bold, attention-grabbing designs. It’s amazing to see how heritage printers keep these pieces alive by reprinting from the original blocks. A beautiful blend of art and history! 🌟

Have you ever tried woodblock printing or seen a similar exhibit? Let me know in the comments! 👇

There are riffler rasps, and then there's a riffler rasp that was actually designed for what you're making. The Gramercy Tools Spoonmaker's Riffler Rasp is the first double-ended riffler built specifically for carving spoons, kuksas, bowls, and pipes. One end is flat on one side and half-round on the other — perfect for shaping the outside curves of your spoon. Flip it around and you'll find a spiral head that tightens as it reaches the tip, letting you work concave surfaces and scoop out the bowl with real control. Every tooth is hand-cut, which means a smoother, more predictable cut than you'll ever get from a machine-stamped rasp. Available in coarse (18 tpi) for shaping and fine (25 tpi) for finishing — or grab the pair and cover every stage of the work. Spring is here. The sap is running. The blanks are waiting. If you've been meaning to carve your first spoon — or your hundredth — this is the tool that finally matches the craft. Link in bio. Made by Gramercy Tools in partnership with one of the last hand-cut rasp makers working today.
