Here's a Throwback Thursday photo from 30 years ago. In February 1995, we were able to buy a large amount of used rail that enabled us to embark on the expansion of our railroad which culminated in the completion of our loop in September 1998. This rail had been cut up into 8ft lengths and was being used as concrete reinforcement.

We missed posting about our 35th anniversary last month. GCRR began when Wiley & Mary Alice Helton bought our trolley from Robert Hankla on March 9, 1989. The trolley was hauled to its new home on March 11, 1989 and is pictured below with Wiley and Matt that evening sitting in the Heltons' driveway.

It’s a bit hard to tell because of the snow but all 4 wheels of the Jeep locomotive are derailed. We thought it’d be fun to ride in the snow but the flangeways in the curved crossing at the wye was our undoing. Don’t worry, with the help of a big New Holland tractor, everything is back on track and snuggled back down in the barn.

Merry Christmas to all our GCRR friends. We wish for all of you to have a wonderful time with your friends and family as we celebrate the birth of our Lord. May you have a blessed 2024!
