Compared to this past holiday weekend, the upcoming forecast looks much better and even warmer with highs back in the 70s and some 80s inland. However, there still will be some rain risks to discuss. A frontal system is parked over to our south with most of the showers likely holding south of the area during the daytime. This sneaks into the area overnight and into the start of Wednesday, bringing a risk for shower and downpour development. The highest coverage remains in the morning, becoming more isolated toward midday and then exiting in the afternoon. Other than a shower returning overnight, the front sags back south with a drier and comfortable airmass settling in for the remainder of the week.

We have showers and sprinkles around to start, which are on the light side. While these can linger this morning, it should still be ok for at least non-rain sensitive projects. A greater risk for showers comes in midday and especially late afternoon with coverage turning most numerous past sunset. From here on out, the forecast is very unsettled with a damp and cool start to Memorial Day weekend. Temperatures remain in the 50s to perhaps some 60s with daily risks for showers and rain. It is beneficial rain though thanks to a long duration drought, with 2"+ possible over a 2 day stretch. Late Sunday into Monday may have the best chance to scour out rain, with Memorial Day itself perhaps warming up a tad with increased dry time.

Protecting Brigantine’s Natural Beaches
If you notice posts and string installed along portions of the beach near the dune line this spring and summer, they are there to protect sensitive beach vegetation and help preserve our natural shoreline.
These protected areas help stabilize sand, strengthen our dunes, support wildlife habitats, and improve coastal resilience.
We ask all residents and visitors to please stay outside the marked areas, including pedestrians, dog walkers, and vehicles associated with surfing and fishing activities.
The protected strips were designed to balance environmental protection with public beach access, while helping preserve important native vegetation for future generations.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection will also assist with monitoring these areas throughout the season.
Brigantine is proud of its commitment to protecting our beaches, dunes, wildlife, and natural resources, and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation.

We have two more days of unseasonably hot weather inland until a sharp temperature drop by week's end and into this weekend. Continue to practice safe heat related measures if working outdoors for extended periods of time. A cold front arrives late day on Wednesday afternoon, which will bring us a round of showers and storms. Depending on coverage and how much these survive, some can be strong enough to produce a few gusts over 50 mph. In addition, localized poor drainage flooding is possible from repeated downpours. With the front slowly sagging south, it remains in the vicinity into Thursday and keeps a shower risk around. The most widespread coverage occurs Thursday afternoon and into the evening, then again a similar pattern Friday into Saturday.
