You can’t prioritize what you can’t see.

For facility managers overseeing dozens or hundreds of locations, limited visibility into asset conditions can turn manageable equipment issues into costly emergencies.

Which locations need immediate attention? Which equipment should be repaired or replaced? Where should you invest first? The most expensive HVAC problem isn’t always the equipment that fails. It’s the one you didn’t see coming.

CoolSys brings the bigger picture into focus with centralized asset visibility, standardized insights and lifecycle planning. With a clearer view of your portfolio, you can prioritize investments, anticipate equipment failures and eliminate reactive maintenance across every location.

The cost of equipment failure isn’t limited to repair costs.

When refrigeration or HVAC systems break down, the impact can quickly ripple through store operations: spoiled products, discomfort for employees and customers and even permanent equipment damage if problems are left unaddressed.

Now multiply those mission-critical systems across thousands of locations. For national retailers, maintaining equipment across a large portfolio means coordinating different vendors, service teams and maintenance needs at every location.

That’s where having a single partner for cross-portfolio facility solutions can make a difference.

CoolSys eliminates the need for multi-vendor coordination, orchestrating facility services through a dedicated account team. From equipment maintenance and asset management to emergency cleanup after unexpected disruptions, we help retailers keep their operations running with less complexity.

AI is moving fast. Power infrastructure can’t always move with it.

Data centers already represent an estimated 4-5% of U.S. electricity demand. By 2030, that share could reach 9-17%, according to EPRI.

For data center developers, that growth raises a critical question: How do you bring new capacity online when grid power can’t keep pace?

Bridge-to-grid strategies provide another path. Onsite generation solutions like can move a meaningful share of power demand onsite, while putting recovered thermal energy to work for cooling when paired with technologies like absorption chillers.

That’s why looking at power and cooling as one connected system matters.

For multi-site renovations, retired equipment can create significant disposal costs and complex logistical challenges.

Those same assets may hold untapped financial value.

When a national discount retailer launched a store refresh across nearly 17,000 locations, CoolSys implemented a coordinated asset recovery program to redirect 40,000+ assets from landfill into productive retail use, generating a $10M+ cost reduction.

This approach allowed internal teams to stay focused on store operations and renovation timelines: https://coolsys.com/resource/turning-renovation-waste-into-measurable-financial-return/

AI isn’t only changing compute demand. It’s changing the infrastructure equation underneath it.

As demand grows, owners and developers are confronting the same fundamental constraint:

How do you scale capacity when power, cooling and infrastructure timelines don’t always scale with you?

That was a central theme at Yotta 2026.

The answer increasingly requires these systems to be planned together—advanced cooling, resilient power, bridge-to-grid strategies, monitoring and lifecycle support.

The companies that solve those dependencies early will have a very different path to capacity than those that treat each infrastructure decision independently.

That’s the conversation CoolSys wants to help move forward: https://coolsys.com/markets/data-center-solutions/

The worst time to build an plan is after the emergency.

For organizations operating dozens, or even hundreds of locations, disaster recovery requires more than finding help after a storm.

It requires knowing who will mobilize, how quickly they can respond, what services are available and who owns coordination across the portfolio.

CoolSys emergency recovery capabilities include:

🔹 Rapid mobilization across all 50 states
🔹 Site stabilization and cleanout
🔹 Debris and damaged-equipment removal
🔹 Dedicated coordination for multi-site customers

The goal isn’t simply reacting faster.

It’s being ready before disruption happens.

Could combined heat and power make sense for your facility?

For certain facilities, can provide more than an alternative source of energy. It can improve resilience, reduce dependence on the grid and potentially change facility energy economics.

A few indicators that CHP may be worth evaluating:

🔹 High and consistent thermal demand
🔹 More than 5,000 annual operating hours
🔹 A favorable spark spread between electricity and natural gas costs
🔹 A business where power reliability directly affects operations

CoolSys experts Jason Kaplan, CDCEP and Stanislav Soucek break down where CHP can create value and when it may not be the right solution: https://coolsys.com/resource/is-cogeneration-right-for-you/

What if the heat your refrigeration system is throwing away could become an energy asset?

Next-generation refrigeration systems reject heat at temperatures above 200°F. Instead of releasing that heat into the atmosphere, these systems can put it to work. Paired with on-site power generation and an absorption chiller, it becomes useful cooling that cuts the refrigeration system’s own power draw and can provide free cooling to your store.

In some applications, that can mean energy savings that pay back in single-digit-years, before incentives.

At the FMI - The Food Industry Association's Energy & Store Development Conference, Ben Rosenzweig, PE, President of CoolSys Professional Solutions, will show how a transcritical CO2 rack turns combined heat and power from a hard sell into a paying investment for a supermarket.

He'll explain:
â—† Why CHP has not stuck in supermarkets, and how CO2 changes that
â—† How to size the heat, the sink, and the engine for your store
â—† The tariff lines that decide the payback
â—† Where in the country the numbers clear single-digit payback periods

Whether you’re optimizing an existing refrigeration system or planning a new installation, you’ll leave with practical insights to help reduce energy costs and a different way to think about using heat rejected from your CO2 refrigeration systems.

At some point, repairing aging equipment stops being the financially conservative decision.

If emergency repairs are becoming routine, energy consumption is climbing and reliability is declining, the question isn’t simply whether the equipment can be repaired again.

It’s whether it should be.

A few signs replacement may deserve a closer look:

🔹 Equipment approaching 15–20+ years
🔹 Increasing repair frequency or cost
🔹 Rising energy consumption
🔹 Refrigerant availability or phaseout concerns
🔹 Declining reliability

The right answer isn’t always replacement. But understanding total operating cost, not simply the next repair bill, can help facility teams make a better decision.

That’s one lesson Zander Tatum has learned during his time at CoolSys.

Career growth isn’t always about waiting for the next title to open up. Sometimes new opportunities emerge because the business is growing, customer needs are changing and someone has demonstrated they’re ready for more.
