IRISS is heading to Mexico!
We've been public about the fact that most industry tradeshows run on habit, not value. Flights, booths, badge scans, repeat next year. CMC México is the exception we'll make the trip for.

Two days with the people actually running reliability programs across Latin America's plants and facilities, not a room full of vendors talking past each other. Sessions on reliability-centered maintenance, root cause analysis, and condition monitoring with the practitioners who'll use it Monday morning.

Same temperature. Completely different infrared readings. Why?

The answer is emissivity, and getting it wrong is one of the most common (and costly) mistakes in thermal inspections.

A polished copper connection and a painted panel next to it could be at the exact same temperature, but your IR camera won't see it that way. The paint gives an accurate reading. The copper reflects heat from everything around it, making a genuinely hot connection look perfectly normal.

That's a missed hot spot waiting to cause a failure.

Unplanned downtime isn't just a cost problem. It's a resource problem. A tripped breaker, a failed connection, a motor pulled offline months before its expected life, each of those events carries a footprint that rarely makes it into a sustainability report: the materials wasted, the energy spent restarting a process from cold, the replacement equipment manufactured and shipped ahead of schedule.

Sustainability strategy and reliability strategy usually live in different departments, reporting to different metrics, presented to different stakeholders. That separation makes sense on an org chart. It doesn't hold up on the plant floor, where the same failure shows up on both sides of the ledger.

Operation-Driven Sustainability and Reliability, ODSR, starts from a simpler premise: they're not two initiatives competing for the same budget. They're one initiative, described by two different departments.

A facility that catches a degrading connection before it fails isn't just avoiding an incident. It's avoiding the waste, the energy spike, and the early equipment replacement that come with it. One thing about arc flash risk that gets overlooked: the highest-risk moment usually isn't the fault itself. It's the door being open when it happens.

Every unnecessary panel entry, whether for a visual check, a routine reading, or a "just to be safe" look, is exposure that didn't need to happen. The safest inspection is the one done without opening anything at all.

If your maintenance routine still requires regular live entry to check on equipment that's behaving normally, that's the gap worth closing.

That is a wrap on ICENDE 2026. Three days of innovation, conversations, and a closer look at where the future of industrial safety is heading.

IRISS was proud to be the Platinum Sponsor of the 6th International Conference and Exhibition on Nondestructive Evaluation, hosted by ASNT India (The American Society for Nondestructive Testing in India) at the Chennai Trade Centre from August 20 to 22.

Three voices from IRISS took the stage across the conference.

Martin Robinson, Founder and CEO, delivered the Keynote Address on Operations-Driven Safety and Sustainability and Reliability (ODSR), a framework that empowers operators to improve safety, sustainability, reliability, and resilience across the plant.

Mayank Pariaker, Technical Solutions Manager, APAC, presented on Design for Safety and Reliability (DFSR).

Mina Soliman, Reliability and Condition Monitoring Expert, presented Escaping the Trap: Preserving Engineering Knowledge in the Age of AI and the Silver Tsunami, exploring how organizations can preserve decades of engineering expertise as experienced professionals retire.

Our team ran live demonstrations of IR Windows, Safe-Connect, E Sentry, Sonus XT, Sonus VIZ, Motion Amplification, and more. What made this event special was not just the technology on display. It was the conversations. The questions from delegates, the ideas exchanged at the booth, and the connections built over three busy days are what we will carry home from Chennai.

A big thank you to the entire IRISS team for the incredible effort, teamwork, and energy that went into making these three days so memorable. It was great to see everyone come together to represent our technology, our ideas, and our vision.
